6 Natural Ways to Fight Depression Part 2

In last week’s article, I shared common causes of depression, why traditional methods are not always successful, and 3 of my most-favorite, go-to, natural remedies for fighting depression. In part 2, I will share my other 3 favorite remedies.

  1. Prayer/Spiritual Contemplation

Prayer and or spiritual contemplation are great aids for depression, even on a practical level. When someone is praying, essentially, they are communicating with G-d (For non-monotheists, you can interpret this part as you please).

One prays to G-d because he or she knows that G-d is the Ultimate Source of blessings and support anybody can find in this universe. It’s very much like a son-father relationship. No matter what, G-d loves His children, mankind, and unconditionally takes care of us all.

When one has this Infinite Support System to rely on for both the good and not-so-good times, it can relieve much of the pressure and negativity a person goes through. They realize that they are not in control of everything, but rather, G-d is and He knows what’s right for our entire well-being.

Additionally, with a strong connection to G-d, one will come to the realization that everything He does is for our best interest. Any situation we are in, no matter how positive or negative, is for our own benefit AND for our self-improvement.

As a strong believer in G-d, I can attest to the fact that my connection and growing knowledge of the Source, is the best thing that has ever happened in my life. I have personally witnessed how this has helped me overcome negative feelings, such as depression, throughout life’s challenges.

It has ultimately led me to recognize G-d in my daily life and I thank my Higher Power every day for everything I have. And for as much effort as I put in my everyday schedule, I always rely on Him for blessings and goodness.

Some see prayer as the mumbling of random, nonsense words. Yet, if we only know the significance of our prayers, and what they can accomplish on a spiritual, psychological, and even physical level, we would be shocked and probably wouldn’t stop praying.

There are numerous, witnessed stories of figures such as authentic spiritual leaders, authentic Kabbalists (not Kabbalah Centre), and even regular simple people whose sincere, heartfelt prayers have impacted others significantly.

  1. Talking to Friends and Family

For social support, talking to friends and family about your issues is definitely very helpful in dealing with your depression, and for that matter, other issues too. Friends and family understand you better than others and know your personality and how it works. Out of love, they can help talk things out with you and encourage you to find a path or constructive solution to overcome any difficulties in life.

Many times, your loved ones can cheer you up in a variety of ways that they know ameliorate you. They may even be able to show why your reasoning for being depressed shouldn’t consume you.

Even a social hangout with friends and/or family can be very beneficial. You could try going to a sports game, a restaurant, taking a walk out in nature, share jokes, the possibilities are endless.

When one is in the company of another person, the attitude, and energy of that person can influence the people around them. This applies to people in both positive and negative states of being.

  1. Music

Music is one of the strongest, non-tangible items we have in this world. The melodies, tunes, and connotations of any musical symphony can bring up deep emotions. Music can cause us to move ecstatically, to be joyous, to contemplate deeply, or the very opposite. This is because music is a vehicle to express our inner-self and state of mind.

With ease, positive and upbeat music can uplift a victim of depression from the pits of gloom to the highest levels of happiness, while connecting to the depth and intensity of a particular song. Of course, the right music is needed for this. Play music that’s fun, upbeat, and happy. The kind that makes you want to get up and dance or do something pleasurable and productive. Don’t play gloomy, slow, negative lyrics as this will keep you stuck from my experience.

In summary, my 6 Most-Favorite Natural Ways to Fight Depression are:
  1. Homeopathy
  2. St. John’s Wort
  3. Find a life purpose
  4. Prayer, spiritual contemplation
  5. Maintaining close connections to family and friends
  6. Music

These are my methods of fighting depression when and if it comes up. Personally, these methods have worked excellently for me, and much better than others.
