Learn to Stand Out Online Part 2: How Crafting the RIGHT Message Will Get You Noticed Online — Late joining this series? Catch up on Part 1!

I’m sure you’ve heard the saying “you can’t be everything to everybody” and online, that’s especially true. I’m going to give you 3 steps that will help you craft the right message so you can get noticed online.

Your message may be near and dear to you. But, if it is too generic, you won’t reach YOUR people.

You’ve got to be able to catch the attention of the people you want to work with. I see many women too scared to be specific fearing if they narrow their message and speak to a specific niche, they won’t get in front of a large enough audience.

Going narrow is THE way to get in front those you want to serve, are meant to serve and those people who are looking for your services right now.

You might think to be visible online means getting “out there” and being seen everywhere.

It can be overwhelming to think about how you can possibly achieve being seen all over the web. But here’s the thing, you can’t be visible to everyone, nor do you want to. You want to be visible in front of your people. So, how do you do that? The answer is with a message that resonates with them and that feels aligned with your purpose or soul-work.

I see many women making the mistake of creating a brand message that they understand but that their audience doesn’t “get.” You can see how this could create a huge disconnect.

If your ideal audience doesn’t resonate with your message, they will not notice you online. 

All your blog posts, social media posts, landing pages, emails, and offers must speak to your audience.  If you don’t know who your audience is, how can you talk their language? This is often where I see a big gap in marketing efforts.

Here are 3 steps that will help you create a message that will get you noticed online:

  1. Do your market research:

I can’t tell you how important market research is. This should be built into your daily marketing efforts.  Get to know YOUR people. This is the only way to find out what they want. I talk about market research in my blog post where you can download the free guide that walks you through the 5 essential questions to ask your audience and find out how you can best serve them.

  1. Get feedback:

Once you know your people, you can ask them what they think of your message. Ask them if it resonates with them. Find out if they understand and interpret the meaning of your message correctly. This helps you to gain the perspective from your audience’s point of view.

  1. Test, test, test:

Marketing is testing. Not every strategy works for every audience. You’ve got to know what works for your audience and that requires continual testing and adjusting. If you get feedback that your message isn’t being interpreted by your audience the way you want it to be, then you need to adjust and refine.  Having a great message means it is not only aligned to you but also aligned to the people you want to serve.

Once you have gone through these 3 steps, you will have created a message that resonates with your audience and that feels aligned to your purpose work. This is that message that when you share online will attract the exact people that are looking for your services.

Market research, feedback, and testing are all part of crafting a great message that feels meaningful to you and to your audience.

When they “get” your message, when it is clear and specific to the people you want to serve, you will get noticed online.
