Are you ready for another smoothie to keep you healthy this autumn season? Try the Apple Ginger Delight Smoothie!

Did you know in Traditional Chinese Medicine, autumn is considered a time of letting go? Just as the maple trees let go of their leaves so must we let go of what no longer serves us. One of the organs associated with autumn and letting go is the large intestine. The large intestine harvests and assimilates nutrients we take in and helps rid our body of things we don’t need.

Below is a smoothie recipe with ingredients to help support your large intestine as well boost your immune system and other key body systems to keep you healthy, happy and vibrant.

Apple Ginger Delight Smoothie:

  • 12 oz. unsweetened vanilla almond milk or coconut milk
  • ½ to 1 frozen banana
  • 1 red apple of your choice
  • 1 cup spinach
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • 4 tablespoons hemp seeds
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger
  • 1/8 tsp cinnamon
Directions:

Place of ingredients in the blender and blend until smooth. Pour into your favorite glass. Put a dash of cinnamon on top and enjoy.

The benefits of the above ingredients are as follows:

Bananas

Has potassium and B vitamins to increase your energy and support your nerve, skeletal and muscle function.

Apples

Contain soluble fiber and pectin which helps detox your body.

Spinach

Rich in vitamins and minerals such as vitamin C, calcium, iron, potassium, and magnesium, which supports many systems of your body.

Ginger

A warming spice which has anti-inflammatory properties and supports a healthy digestive tract and helps boost your immune system.

Chia seeds

Rich in fiber which helps your digestive system get rid of toxins. Has Omega 3 which supports brain health.

Hemp seeds

High in fiber, is a complete protein, rich in calcium, iron, magnesium and vitamin E. Has anti-inflammatory properties and supports the immune system.

Cinnamon

A warming spice that supports the digestive system and helps decrease sugar cravings.
