Self-love is a struggle for many women. It’s a downside to the patriarchal religious rejection to the Divine Feminine and to the objectification of women through consumerism, the media, and societal complacency. For centuries, women have been systematically forced to conform and submit to the masculine ways. We have been raised in a culture where women are considered inferior to men. Our voices have been silenced, our truth stripped from us, and our bodies have been objectified in the male dominant society. We forgot how to honor the needs of the woman within and nurture our Divine Feminine essence that has been suppressed for so long. From the time of our birth we are taught that loving ourselves is a selfish act.

Through observation, we learn that we should put the needs of others before our own. We observe the women in our lives over giving to the point of exhaustion and illness. We learn it’s selfish to have wants and needs. We’re taught that we are sexual objects. One thought, one feeling, one experience at a time, these beliefs are formed.

The time for submission is over. As women, we have immense power within ourselves to create whatever we desire. The Divine Feminine has awakened on our planet and it’s now time to embrace the feminine power within to honor our body temple and create the lives we desire. Self-love is where our journey begins. We no longer need to feel guilt or shame for honoring the needs of our bodies or having dreams.

The process of healing begins with showing love to our body and to making choices and decisions that are in the best interest for our personal growth. Healing happens one step, one thought at a time.

  1. Change your thoughts

One of the most powerful things you can do be shift your lives is to change your thoughts. What seems like random thoughts are actually thoughts that reinforce the story you are telling yourself about your life and what you deserve. Use the power of your mind to create the outcome you desire.

  1. Write a new story

Once you create new thoughts, it’s time to cement them into your conscious mind by feeling and visualizing the new thought energy. This helps you to write a new chapter, begin a new story and start a new beginning. You are a powerful creator and can create the life you desire. So grab a new pen and a new journal and start writing.

  1. Listen to your body

Take time to listen to your body. Pain is a symptom that something in your life is out of alignment. Illness is a manifestation of ignoring the symptoms or signals from your body. So take the time to listen to your body. Feel the pain or symptom during a meditation and listen to the message it has for you. Your body can offer you so much insight to an imbalance in your life.

  1. Embrace your flaws

Our flaws are what make us original. We spend way too much time and energy picking ourselves apart. Our flaws are what make us original. The world would be quite boring if we were all the same. Our flaws or shortcomings are what make us original. So embrace who you are, flaws and all. Use them as a space of learning or to teach others.

  1. Stop apologizing

Don’t apologize for how you look or what you’re wearing. Don’t apologize for being a woman or weaker. You’ve done it. When you see someone you know, you’ll apologize for not wearing makeup or being in old clothes, etc. Pay attention when you say, “I’m Sorry.” Make “Sorry doesn’t live here anymore” your new mantra. You are perfect just as you are. There is no need to apologize about yourself.

We’ve spent years fitting into the box or conforming to who others want us to be that we sometimes don’t really know who we are. Begin to pay attention to the feelings you have. Uncomfortable feelings mean that what you are doing is out of alignment with your Soul. Do what feels good to you. Just showing up as yourself creates the space for personal growth. Remember to be patient with yourself. Sometimes we’ve been who others have wanted us to be for so long that it takes time to relearn who we truly are. Being authentic allows your Soul to shine through and let YOU shine.

  1. Let go of the “do it all” syndrome

We spend so much time taking care of others and helping others that we often do it at the expense of ourselves. So next time someone asks you for help, remember that it’s OK to say “No.” You are the only one who can protect your time and energy. Helping others to the point where you are depleted, fatigued or resentful, is not healthy for your body and can actually energetically begin to call illness into your life.

  1. Surround yourself with positive people

Surround yourself only with those people who lift you up. So often we “put up with” people who are negative, bring us down, or just don’t resonate with us. We try to be polite and tolerant. Truth is, life is too short to surround yourself with people who don’t provide you with positivity and uplift you.

  1. Eat to nourish your body

Most of the time we eat, we are coming from a space of fear. We attach rules to our food. We eat so we can lose weight or fit into a certain size. We eat to avoid illness or disease. Instead of eating from a space of fear and anxiety, eat because it is an act of love to your body. Eat so you provide nourishment to your body temple and to feel energetic and healthy.

  1. Be creative

We are creative beings. Our minds are always in motion and creating but we’ve stopped listening to our creativity. If you are ready to make some big changes in life, tap into your creativity. Allow yourself to start a new craft, hobby, drawing, painting, etc. to stimulate your creative side. Creativity will open your mind to thoughts you never knew you had or help you release stagnant energy in your body.

Loving yourself doesn’t usually happen overnight. It’s a series of constant steps that put yourself at the top of your list. There is no perfect in the process. It’s all about learning and growing. Each new step helps you to build a foundation of self-love. Embracing the Divine Feminine within supports you during this transformational time and gives you the power to accomplish what you desire.
