Balance is the key to everything. What we dothinksay, eat, feel, they all require awareness, and through awareness, we can grow. – Koi Fresco

Here are 15 Tips for Finding Balance in Your Life:

  1. Prioritize Time.

One of the most impactful books I have ever read has been “7 Habits of Highly Effective People.” This book divides your time into 4 categories:

  • Urgent and important.
  • Important but not urgent.
  • Urgent but not important.
  • Neither urgent nor important.

Everything on your To-Do list falls into one of these categories. Start with what is urgent and important and move down from there.

  1. Plan Ahead.

Schedule your day or week so you can see where the majority of your time is going and what you need to make time for. Schedule time for work, exercise, and social events.

  1. Network.

Find a support system. Have someone you look forward to seeing or talking to in your network of friends, mentors, and co-workers. Associate with people that make you feel good and lift you higher.

  1. Organize.

A place for everything and everything in its place. It’s easier to have life balance if you are not searching for your lost keys or trying to find the other shoe before starting your day.

  1. Delegate.

We all have the same number of hours in a day. Look to see where your time is best spent. Maybe it is easier to hire a cleaning lady while you spend time with the kids or save the paperwork for mornings.

  1. Exercise.

So many benefits come from daily exercise; better overall health, weight loss, stress relief, endorphin increase. Make time every day to exercise.

  1. Meditate.

Quieting and clearing your mind is an important part of life balance. Meditation increases your mood, mindfulness, self- awareness, and focus while decreasing stress, anxiety, and risk of heart disease, stroke, and high blood pressure.

  1. Unplug.

Technology is a wonderful thing, but it can be overwhelming and create expectations of being constantly accessible. Make sure you take time to unplug and digitally detox.

  1. Take Time for You.

Do something just for you. Read a book. Take a bath. Do one thing a day that feeds your soul.

  1. Create Hard Stops.

Have set time for work, set time for family, and so on.

  1. Take Breaks.

People that take breaks throughout the day are known to be more focused and productive. Give yourself a few minutes to walk, stretch your legs, and clear your mind.

  1. Be Mindful.

Mindfulness is a huge part of finding balance in everyday life. Mindfulness is choosing how we show up in life, making conscious choices, and living in the moment.

  1. Take Time Off.

Everyone needs time to relax, rejuvenate, and recharge.

  1. Say No.

It is ok to say no and set boundaries, whether it be with family, friends, or work. Listen to your intuition and go with what feels best.

  1. Create Good Habits.

Are your habits contributing to your life balance? A foundation of Eating healthy, exercise, good sleep will help maintain balance.
