Men have feelings too and are deserving of a life of optimal health, vitality, and happiness.

Both men and women need warm, loving, relationships for a healthy life. Sharing your life with people gives you a sense of your identity, adding dimension to your life and life’s purpose.

If this is has been lost or depleted from your life, it may have detrimental and disastrous effects on your health. And men also want a life of health, happiness, love, commitment, and purpose.

So, Where Do You Begin?

Modern medicine tends to turn your health into a numbers game, weight, BMI, cholesterol, blood pressure, and heart rate. Getting on top of these problems all boils down to the foods you eat, your lifestyle habits, regular exercise, learning positive coping mechanisms for stress, simplifying life, and enjoying the fundamentals like peace, joy, happiness, love, and nature.

This just seems to have the ability to turn you away from wanting to implement any health strategy because it just seems too hard. The major problem for men isn’t so much that they don’t want to be healthy rather they are not expected to have any thoughts towards their health, especially from a longevity perspective.

Over the centuries men have been programmed to be protectors, providers, and procreators. Now in modern times all of this has changed. Your role has taken a broader spectrum with a need to bring balance to not just your male attributes but to bring out a balance with your feminine side; to communicate more efficiently, acknowledging that you have feelings and want a life of purpose, love, and meaning.

Food — The Foundation of Optimal Health:

Understanding the elements of healthy eating, having a balanced diet, minimizing animal protein to one serving per day. Fill your daily intake with fruit and nuts for snacks and of course with vegetables. Root vegetables are a healthy source of protein as well as are eggs and fish. Eliminating fast food, junk food, and highly processed foods. Green vegetables provide you with vitamins and minerals for healthy heart, brain, bowels, circulation, and detoxification.

Stick to the “KISS” principle, “Keep it Simple Stupid.” I have found after talking with my clients that the most challenging meal is breakfast because many people are either in a hurry or not hungry. So follow this link for easy breakfast suggestions.

Relationships:

Relationships play a vitally important role in your health and wellbeing. Choosing relationships where you have similar foundational dreams, goals, and expectations is of vital importance. Being supportive of each other’s needs and being on the same page as far family values and commitment are concerned.

In past times there has been a lot of injustice and inequality for both men and women. However, you don’t bring about equality without working out how to live with one another. Complimenting one another’s differences, bringing you into some form of balance, significance, and importance.

Difficulty Talking About Your Feelings:

Generally speaking, men are aware of the difficulty they have talking about their feelings, fears, anxieties, even to people who are closest to you. As a man, you tend to think, “If I put on a brave face and just get on with it, everything will be alright.”

One of the biggest killers of men under 45 is suicide. In 2014, 4,623 people took their own lives. That is twelve men every day; One man every two hours. 41% of men who contemplated suicide felt that they couldn’t talk about their feelings.

Then you have the slow suicides such as smoking, or an overconsumption of alcohol and drugs, in an attempt to push the feelings away. It’s OK to talk. Talk to someone you know you can trust, or someone who isn’t going to judge you and will be supportive of you.

  1. Whether man, woman or child you are a miracle, a true gift from God.
  2. Find balance by understanding the role your mind and thoughts have on your physical health.
  3. What do you want for your life, your health, your relationships, your career? What do you enjoy doing?
  4. Mix with people who will support you in taking on Healthy Habits.
  5. Understand that as a man you do have feelings and deserve to be treated with kindness, empathy, and warmth.
  6. Listen first to your own body and the signals it is giving you, then to people who are living positive, healthy and constructive lives.
  7. Ask Questions. Friendships are an essential part of everyone’s life, and part of developing positive friendships is in sharing one another’s experiences. Being interested in the other person.
