What is the point of life?

Is it money, fame, or material goods? You can have all of that and still be unhappy. I think happiness is the goal that most people are looking for.

If you are looking for tips on how to lower stress, have more fun and more happiness in your life overall; below are tips to increase your happiness.

Here Are 9 Ways to Be Happier Every Day:

  1. Start each day with a grateful heart

Instead of waking up with a jolt and immediately diving into new, social media posts or everyday chaos, start every morning with a gratitude journal; either online or in a journal, those things you are grateful for. This gently sets the tone for the day and you will appreciate things you may not have noticed before. Try to list at least 3 things.

  1. Breathe

When you are stressed out or need a moment, take a deep breath. A quick, easy meditation is as follows: Breathe in for a count of 4, hold for 4, exhale for 4, hold for 4. Breathe in light and love; breathe out whatever is troubling you. Keep doing this until you feel more relaxed.

  1. Look to your dreams

Dreams are your subconscious mind at work; working through your thoughts and what is troubling you. A dream journal can help you remember; you may want to take note of recurring dreams and see how it fits in to your life. Some people also come up with their best ideas in their sleep! 

  1. Spend some time in nature

Connecting with nature is the easiest way to feel grounded, centered and part of a larger connection. Even if you are in a big city, find a nearby park or jogging path and experience Mother Nature. Interact with nature by walking barefoot, hugging a tree, or meditate while sitting on the ground.

  1. Surround yourself with positive people

Do you ever feel totally drained after hanging out with someone? That’s called an “energy vampire” and here is a secret; you don’t need them in your life. It doesn’t matter if you have been friends since you were 5; if you both are not changing and growing as a person together, you aren’t really living. Surround yourself with positivity and see how your friendships change and the overall happiness factor in your life changes.

  1. Self-care

Be good to yourself. It seems we always take care of everyone else first; and if we get around to it, then we take care of ourselves. Make yourself a priority.  Do little things with big impact; like take a lavender-infused hot bath, indulge in essential oils, read a good book, or get a massage. Take care of yourself.

  1. Pay it forward

Being nice doesn’t cost a cent. Smile at a stranger, hold a door open for someone, or pay a toll for the person behind you. You may be surprised how a small act of kindness can make such a difference; not only in another person’s life, but also enriching your own.

  1. Meditate

All it takes is 5 minutes to quiet your mind and center your thoughts. Need help? Check out apps like, Calm and Headspace. Meditation has been proven to lower stress and increase health benefits.

  1. Move

Moving your body releases endorphins; giving you that “happy feeling,” as well as contributing to weight loss, decreased stress and decreased chronic health issues. Find a way to move; I love spinning classes, yoga in a salt cave or Kundalini Yoga during stressful times.
