Base Chakra – A Connector to the Physical

Base Chakra - A Connector to the Physical by Nancy Samaria Cardinal #TheWellnessUniverse #WUVIP #BaseChakra

The base chakra is the first of the seven main chakras that are of a physical nature.

This chakra can go by several different names:

  • Base Chakra
  • Root Chakra
  • Earth Chakra
  • Foundation Chakra
  • Muladhara (Sanscrit word meaning – root or support)

This ‘red’ chakra is found at the base of the spine, the perineum.

The base chakra is often dismissed by individuals studying the chakras, as many are drawn to the mysteries of the spiritual chakras.  However, the base chakra is by far the most important chakra.  Everything starts here.

The base chakra connects you to the Mother Earth. This connection of your body to Mother Earth allows you to ground, send excess energy to, or receive energy from our planet.  If this chakra is not balanced and aligned, energy cannot flow through this chakra to the other chakras in the body.  The chakras above the base chakra can never be properly balanced, aligned or energized without the flow of energy from this first centre in the system.

This chakra connects you to your survival instincts, is concerned with security, and the manifestation of your dreams in the physical world.  This physical connection to your body also allows you to access information from your ancestors, your DNA, which is the accumulated knowledge of the love of the thousands that were before you.  Individuals live in the base chakra from their conception till they are about seven years old.

The desire to live, and the fight or flight reaction lay under the realm of the base chakra.

Yet, this chakra is not all just physical.  It is also about giving honour and finding the spiritual and Spirit that lay in our current physical reality.  Connecting to the spiritual in this physical way allows one to see the beauty in our natural world.

Physical activities such as grounding, or those that use the legs and feet activate this chakra.

The base chakra, that which connects us to the physical world and the soul of the Earth, that which connects us to our ancestors, our bloodline. It is the nurturer of all our basic needs, wants, and desires.  Don’t dismiss this prime energy centre. It will bring you back to the reality of physical existence in our cerebral world. In a world where one can truly get caught in fantasy and stray from what is here and now, the base chakra will bring you home. Home to what is truly important, the beginning.
