Spring is almost here, which means beginning our spring-cleaning rituals. A lot of us though, thanks to spending most of our time at home these days, have been spring-cleaning all year long.

But what about the inside? When was the last time you cleaned out your well-being closet? We all focus so much on the outside, that we forget that if things aren’t working well on the inside, then the outside, no matter how hard we try not to show it, is going to reflect that. If we don’t feel our best, how can we look our best?

Some might suggest faking it till you make it, which can work for some temporarily, but it just doesn’t seem to work long term with us emotional beings. We just end up spending our time in fight or flight, falling into bed exhausted, and not faking anything except perhaps our true happiness.

Why not give something new a try, an internal spring cleaning? A refresh of your thought patterns, and a brand-new look at your hopes, your dreams, and what makes you happy. A sort of bucket list for your wellbeing.

Remember to go easy on yourself and don’t compare your self-care needs to anyone else’s. Sometimes self-care is as simple as drinking a cup of hot tea or having lunch with a friend. Some days it’s a nap, binge-watching a TV series, or taking an extra spinning class at the gym. Find what works for you and your soul and work from a place of gratitude. Trust that you are doing your best and that is always enough.

A great example of a powerful tool you can use comes from one of the authors of our Self-Care Guide to Happiness, Divine J9. She shares with us the amazing power of a sacred fire ceremony. In the first part, she lists the items you will need to gather for your very own fire ceremony.

Fire Ceremony Preparation

Here is a step-by-step process to create your own sacred fire ceremony, allowing you to release old energy that no longer serves you. This process brings healing to the body-mind-soul and allows space for expansion into your highest, happiest self. Aho!

What you’ll need to perform this process will depend on what you have available. For example, if you live in an urban setting, then you’ll likely use a candle and a metal bowl. If you live in a suburban or rural environment or have access to a fireplace or outdoor fire pit, then you’ll probably use wood and build a fire. Either way, the element of fire will be just as powerful!

First, gather the following items:

 • A few pieces of paper and a pen

 • A candle or wood for a fire

• A lighter or matches

• A small metal bowl to hold the candle and paper
