Essential Oils for Everyday Living: Immune-System Support

People tend to think about their Immune-System only when they’re sick and want to get over a cold or a cough fast.

With more and more people being conscious of their health, it’s crucial to know how to boost our immune-system to prevent disease and start living a healthier life. Keeping our immune-system strong can strengthen our body and provide it with all the vitamins we need. There are several essential oils we could use daily, and the results are phenomenal – we’ll feel energetic, powerful and can forget about catching colds.

Start your day with a cup of herbal tea with local honey and a few drops of Lemon essential oil. Lemon essential oil has been found to protect the body against harmful pathogens and it also helps drain the lymphatic-system of toxins that can cause us to get sick. If you already feel something coming on, add a few drops of Clove essential oil for its antimicrobial properties.

When ingesting essential oils, always make sure to use a oil that has been designed for ingestion.

Diffuse Eucalyptus essential oil combining with a few drops of Peppermint essential oil to create an antiviral/antibacterial one-two-punch. Research studies have discovered Eucalyptus essential oil isn’t just great to use when suffering from a respiratory infection; it also could ward off the flu, sinus infections, chickenpox and more. By adding in Peppermint essential oil, this combination has shown time and again its ability to fight off colds, cases of flu, fevers and more. Please use caution when using Peppermint essential oil near your face, eyes, and children.

If Eucalyptus and Peppermint are a little too powerful for you, another wonderful blend of essential oils to use when your wanting to kick up your immune-system is to combine a few drops of Lavender essential oil with a few drops of Ginger essential oil. Even though this blend may not be as pungent as the blend above, it still packs a powerful punch. Ginger not only supports the immune-system, but it also supports the body’s healthy response to inflammation; and we all know what inflammation can do to us. In study after study, Lavender has shown itself to be a powerful antibacterial and immune-system booster. It is also known for its ability to support healthy sleep; which is vital for keeping our immune-system in tip-top shape.

A nightly foot-soak in Epsom salts and this combination of essential oils, will have you will not only detoxing your body, but you will also be keeping your immune-system healthy: (4 drops of Clove, 4 drops of Cinnamon, 6 drops of Lavender, 6 drops of Lemon and finally 3 drops of Frankincense).

As you prepare for sleep, (proper sleep is vital for a healthy immune-system), you can steep a cup of your favorite herbal tea with a few drops of Ginger essential oil. Ginger essential oil is an excellent support for both our immune and digestive systems.

Reminder- use 100% pure essential oils that have been marked for ingesting.

To ensure a proper night sleep, spray your linens with a combination of few drops of Clary-sage essential oil, Bergamot essential oil, and Sandalwood essential oil.

Place this sleepy-time combination of essential oils in your diffuser and let a good night’s rest begin: a few drops of Cedarwood essential oil, Frankincense essential oil, Sandalwood essential oil and a few extra drops of Lavender essential oil.
