Do you own a singing bowl? Does it sit on your shelf looking pretty? You may want to take that bowl off your shelf and start playing it.
Studies show that there are many health benefits of playing and listening to singing bowls. It doesn’t matter if you use or listen to a crystal bowl or metal singing bowls; they both have tremendous health benefits, as well as, sounding beautiful. The bowls can be hit on the side with a striker or rubbed along the rim to generate the singing aspect of the bowls. The striker can be made of rubber, felt, or wood. Each one has its own unique sound and creates a different vibration, just like each bowl has its own unique sound and vibration.
As you listen to the bowls, the tone of the bowls flows through your body creating a relaxing state which gives your body the chance to heal. A stressed-out body tends to become sick; a relaxed body is given the chance to be healthy. The vibration can break up energetic blockages and even clear your chakras (energy centers in your body).
The vibration from a singing bowl causes the frequency in and around your body to rise which produces a higher vibration in your world. The higher vibration releases negative thoughts and replaces them with joyful, uplifting, happy thoughts. If you are happy, you are less likely to be stressed and your body has the chance to heal.
Singing bowls have been shown to reduce moodiness and depression.
When you go to a sound meditation or sound bath, as they are sometimes called, you get the benefit of hearing the soothing music live. You lay down in a comfortable position, listen to the bowls being played and you absorb the vibration and relax. Like any meditation, your brain goes into the theta state, where your body goes into deep relaxation. You come out of the sound meditation feeling rejuvenated, relaxed, and ready to face the world.
If you don’t have the opportunity to join a live sound meditation you can search for sound meditations on YouTube. You get the same benefits, just without the “live” aspect.
I was trained through the Vibrational Sound Association on how to use Himalayan singing bowls to help my clients achieve their healing benefits. Just from being in the class for a week, many of the students reported feeling better and having less pain by the end of the week. Personally, I was having more vivid dreams that week, which means I was getting a more restful sleep. One of the students used the bowls to help her grandchildren fall asleep when she was babysitting.
What are some of the other benefits? Research shows that you can emotionally feel better and have physical benefits by being exposed to singing bowls.
Singing bowls can help reduce the feelings of tension, anger, fatigue, or a depressed mood.
Do you have issues with hypertension? Singing bowls have been shown to help lower blood pressure. They’ve also been shown to boost your immune system. We could all use that benefit.
They can help reduce anxiety and stress, increase mental and emotional clarity. They can help to releases happiness hormones, dopamine, serotonin, and endorphins which help reduce pain.
