Welcome to Jim Phillips’ Wednesday Wisdom for December 5th! Each Wednesday, WU World Changer Jim Phillips will share some mid-week wisdom for you to ponder and embrace!
“Life is fluid. It is we who damn it up.”
Life will wash away our doubts, fears, and untruths if we allow it to.
This is done by acknowledging where we are blocking the flow of life. Life flows whether we are in flow with it or not just as water continues to flow over and around a boulder that would resist its flow. In the end, however, it is the boulder that surrenders to the persistence of the water that would wear it away. And so it is with us. We eventually surrender to the persistence of life and come to accept all that it offers.
Surrender is not about giving up. Surrender is giving in.
Giving in to the magnificence of what can be, the magnificence of all that we are, the magnificence of Self. Our boulders in life are the limiting thoughts and beliefs we hold about Self. Regardless of how much we resist what life is offering, life will eventually wear down our limiting beliefs, not causing us to throw our hands in the air in surrender, but to raise our hands in victory as we accept that life always has, and always will, offer what we need for the grandest experience and expression of Self.
Resistance stems from a reluctance or unwillingness to accept change (life) as it is presented.
Even though change is constant, it is the uncertainty of what that change looks like that elicits fear. When looking through the eyes of fear we are unable to see the benefit behind the change and therefore only see that which might be challenging or difficult. When we see challenge and difficulty our first response is usually resistance. We don’t want to go there. We think to ourselves, life is hard enough as it is, and now this. When is it going to end? When will life finally give me a break?
Life in and of itself is difficult. It is intended to be so that we can measure and experience the extent of our personal power. However, life is also quite simple. There is nothing distracting it or holding it back. Life doesn’t question how or what to do; it just is. It flows whether we are in flow with it or not. It is humanity that brings complexity to life. We try to make it conform to us instead of embracing all life has to offer in the way it is offered. If we were to be fully present to life as it unfolds in each moment, we would see a natural, simple process.
Life unfolds as it unfolds, not as it should, but as it does, perfectly.
Life will present challenging opportunities that take us to the brink of what we think we are capable of handling. It does so not to break us, but to make us whole.
“It is through the experiences life presents that we become more aware of who we are, why we are here and what we are to do.”
See you back here this time next week for my Wednesday Wisdom for December 12th!
