Your acts of kindness really do have a ripple effect!
You see someone in need:
- Do you proceed to act from instinct?
- Do you feel a desire to help out of love for another human being?
- Do you act from a sense of duty?
Does it matter what your impetus is for kindness? Your result is the same. You have assisted someone in need, and they will benefit. Even if they do not thank you at the time, it is something they will likely consciously or subconsciously recall. Then when someone else is in need, they may remember the help and kindness they received. You never know how your acts of kindness play out around the world. But they DO.
Many acts of kindness seem to occur after we read or see discomfort and violence in our world. But the best type of kindness is the ones that occur daily and often go unnoticed by the media. There are often people around you seeing your actions done with humility and modesty. They can take those images and memories into their world. They may be inspired to do the same for those they come in contact with, as well. You have a wide effect on other people, and you might not even know it.
What Can You Consider as an Act of Kindness?
Perhaps helping someone who has fallen over in the street or supermarket. You would be surprised by how some people just stand and stare at the person who has had a spill! Offer to shop for a neighbour with young children or an older neighbour who may not find it easy to get out. I have had injuries over the years that required me to rearrange how I did my grocery shopping. Despite a person’s age or ability, help can be a welcome relief for those who need it. You can call a friend or relative to see how they are managing, too.
Isolation such as many of us are experiencing due to restrictions placed because of the COVID-19 virus can be difficult for some people to manage. A call from you can alleviate the concern and loneliness that some people are experiencing. Ask someone, “how can I help.” That can be the opening for someone to reach out and get the help they need.
There are so many ways and ideas to help others. I know you will have your preferred tips. Give it a go. Cause a ripple effect through our world by your one act of kindness! Listen to or watch the news. But also watch people in your environment. It might not make the news if you help but it will brighten someone’s day and life.
Your acts of kindness make a difference and have an amazing ripple effect!
