Given the choice, who wouldn’t be happy? Sometimes we feel that happiness is elusive when we are sad, angry, afraid, or in pain. Yet, it is certainly within our power as human beings to elevate our mood and shift our perspective.
Tools and practices are always available, and can be our best friends in transforming how we feel. I enjoy many daily rituals that help me feel healthy and balanced, but my most favorite tool for being happy is MUSIC!
Music is all around us.
From celestial music from the heavens, modern music coming from speakers, creatures humming and singing, the traditional sounds of hands on drums. Tapping into different frequencies of sounds can modulate our moods and help us feel good. As everything is made of energy, and we are vibrational beings in a vibrational universe, we can consciously choose the music around us to adjust our entire system.
Medical and mental health studies find that music is an effective tool for reducing stress, relieving depression, and managing pain. Brain science shows wondrous chemical reactions and positive hormonal activity produced by listening to music. Metaphysical studies illustrate the vibrational and energetic benefits of sound. Yet seeing how music can instantly transform a moment and bring joy is the best proof of all!
I have been a musician, composer, and producer for my entire life. Playing music, being in the swirl of all those notes and harmonies takes me into a zone of wonder and delight. I’ve also been leading a most amazing “party band” for the past 20 years, and I can attest first-hand that the miraculous power of music brings forth a variety of emotions. We can each use this tool of music to create sacred spaces, tender moments, joyful experiences and ecstatic celebrations.
The trick is to use your intuition and look for the musical pieces that will bring you into your desired state of mind.
STILL – Music for relaxation
Taking a few moments each day to sit quietly and breathe deeply releases stress and fear. These precious moments of stillness help us connect with our inner selves while letting go of the chaos of the world around us. Peaceful music can take us to these deep places of tranquility, leading us to a great sense of peace and happiness.
CHILL – Music for Activation
You can use music to activate the movement of energy throughout your body. Music can keep you centered when walking and doing yoga. Some music can help focus your prayers and dreams. Other music can keep you motivated and happy as you move through your daily life. Music empowers each moment, and helps you connect more fully to the present moment. Whatever practices you engage in, there is music to correspond to it.
THRILL – Music for Celebration
Music has the power to instantly elevate your mood, bringing you into an energetic state of joy. The high-energy, fast tempo of THRILL music courses through your body, often leading you to dance and sing, immersing yourself in the ecstatic vibration of elation and celebration. Bring on the joy and let yourself be danced by the love imbedded in the music.
Music is your guide to peace, love, and happiness.
Glean the message, listen to the sound with your whole being, and follow the journey of music to an inner place of peace, love, and happiness.
