This article is an excerpt of the 3rd chapter of my book Align with Your Purpose.
I remember when I actually “got” this. It really changed my life in a profound way. It enabled me to look at others in the way I am meant to see them. Even the ones that aren’t so kind. I realized that when I see others as fully connected to me and even “as me,” it gave me the ability to love unconditionally.
“There is only One person in the room, so many of us see others as separate from ourselves. The truth is that we are all one. There is no separation from God and there is no separation from each other. The only way that we all live, move, and have our being, is through that one Spirit of God that is in all of us.
Let me take the opportunity to explain the ‘she’ pronoun for God. He is everything. He is all things and in all things. No separation. He is the male and female. He is the up and down. He is all that is. When one has an image of God that excludes anything, they limit Him… and God is limitless!
The Oneness that is God is what joins us all. When you fully understand the you that is you, meaning your Spirit, that Spirit is God. That one Spirit is the only Spirit! What that means is that you and I are the same. Our physical bodies are simply a place where the Spirit of God can reside in order to experience physical reality. Our different expressions of God are here so that She can know the physical while being fully Spiritual. When we see each other as different from ourselves, this is why we have war, racism, and every other feeling that causes separation.
When philosophy or religion teaches that my way is the only way, it causes division. We are all Divinity. We are all God.
“Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?” John 10:34
We think very little at times of who we truly are. Therefore, when we look at others, we can tend to see them for less than what they truly are. When we can fully see ourselves as who we truly are, Divinity in the flesh, we can also begin to see others for who they truly are.
Jesus, being one of our Master Teachers had no problem putting himself, and us, on the level of God. Jesus even told us that we would do even greater things than he did. How could this be possible, unless we have access to the same Source that he did?
Again, there is only one thing in all and through all. That is God. We all are One because He is in us all.
This is why I realize that there is only one person in the room. When I see you, I fully realize that we are the same and equal. What would it be like if all of us came to the same realization? It is interesting that almost no one would argue the thought that we came from the stars, that we are a part of this Universe in every way. Yet, the thought that we are a part of each other, on a very deep level, is what we disagree on.
How insane is it, that what causes division in us is something as ridiculous as pigmentation? Or, that I hold a different thought about God. Or even that one is attracted to the same sex. These small and unimportant things are what people build division upon. These are the things that cause people to think they are better than one another.
These minuscule differences cause bitterness, hate, and war. Is it not sad that this is how small much of our thinking is? Aren’t we better than this?
So, who are we?
We are expressions of that which created us, so that He can be expressed through us. There is no you nor I. It is only us which is one.
Think of it like this… If you created something, you would create it to experience the things that you wish to experience. We created space vehicles that are racing through the Universe to collect data so that we can understand and experience other things that are out there. We created them to collect data and send it back to us to analyze and learn from.
We do not judge the information at all. We allow those creations to experience it and we simply observe. We, to some extent, guide or direct it in the path that we want it to go, but do not judge anything. We even create these things to think for themselves, in so many cases, so as not to taint or tarnish the information that we receive.
This is how our Source lives through us, just as we live through our own man-made creations. Our Source, our Creator, is interested in experiencing all things through us because that is the only way that it can. Without our Source having created us, it would not be able to experience anything because it is not in a form to experience anything. Our Source feels all that we feel and experiences all that we experience through us.
When we fully become aware of who we are, that being ONE, we would treat each other much differently.
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Husbands, love your wives as yourselves. Love your enemies and do good to them that mistreat you. What you have done unto the least of these, you have done unto me.
Do you see how simple and easy this can be accomplished when you remember that we are all one in the same? We are all the expression of our Source so that He can experience a physical reality.
Christians understand that God and Christ are One. What needs to be understood further is that if God and Christ are One and we are One with Christ then we all are One with God or our Source.
This is true no matter the religion. We all come from the same one place and all are One.”
