How did just one hour with EFT help me overcome my phobia of snakes?
I never liked snakes. The sight of a snake, the mere thought of a snake would make my skin crawl! In the year 2007, I had the opportunity to move to Austin, Texas for a year. Texas was on my list of places to visit, and I was very excited and ready to make the move. Of course, the thought of wildlife snakes in my yard and parks never crossed my mind. The house I had rented for that year had a beautiful backyard; it was stunning full of trees, beautiful flowers, wildlife, and SNAKES!
One morning, as I put the cushions back on the patio furniture after removing them the night prior to avoid getting wet by the rain, I saw my first snake. I let out a scream so loud that my neighbor heard me and rushed to my rescue! Thinking back now it makes me laugh, but it was a very terrifying moment for me.
I decided right then and there, I would not under any circumstance enter my beautiful backyard again! And I never did until EFT changed that for me. But that was not my only encounter with a snake. One beautiful afternoon my friends and I took the children to the park. As we walked through this beautiful path and across a bridge, I looked down I saw a snake eating a frog! I was pushing my son’s stroller and I let out another scream, now running as I promised myself I would not leave my house ever again!
At that moment, I knew what it is like to have a phobia.
My friends thought it was funny and could not help but laugh, but I was very serious. One of my friends after witnessing my reaction to snakes offered to help me overcome this fear, this one phobia with a technique she referred to as EFT. In my mind, I did not know what to expect, but I was willing to try anything at this point. I had never heard of EFT before but if I was going to live in Texas for one whole year staying home all day, every day was not an option. So, I accepted the offer and one night after a BBQ at a friend’s house, sitting out on her porch we began a session of EFT Tapping. I was skeptical at first, but after a few rounds, my feelings about snakes began to change. I felt a shift when visualizing a snake, and how it would feel even to touch one was not a terrifying thought anymore.
Now that you know all about my ex-phobia, let me tell you all about EFT! See, EFT is so amazing I obtained my certification as a practitioner.
EFT is the emotional version of acupuncture without the needles. It’s a revolutionary process for healing emotions. With EFT, we are tapping on acupressure points (same as in acupuncture), those acupressure points clear our meridians which are energy channels transporting life energy throughout the body.
EFT has many benefits such as tapping for cravings, emotional and physical pain, phobias, stress, anxiety, trauma, addictions, public speaking, self-esteem and the list goes on and on.
