The Basics of Reiki and EFT

What are alternative and holistic practices?

Holistic practices incorporate complementary therapies that have been proven to work and that focus on wellness and prevention rather than just treating diseases whereas Alternative practices are used in place of conventional medicine. Alternative medicine refers to non-mainstream practices such as acupuncture, Ayurveda, homeopathy, naturopathy, etc.

When it comes to Holistic health, we are looking beyond the physical body. We look at the spiritual, intellectual, physical, and emotional health of the person.

There are two spectacular techniques that I practice myself and want to share with you, Reiki and EFT Meridian Tapping.

Reiki – A lifeforce energy

Reiki is considered a form of alternative therapy and is one of the most beautiful experiences I’ve ever had, both as a practitioner and as a person receiving Reiki healing. Reiki is based on an Eastern belief in life force energy that supports the body’s natural healing abilities. If you are looking for a natural way to relieve pain, reduce stress, help your body heal emotionally as well as physically, then Reiki could be your answer. It surely is mine.

Reiki is a very spiritual practice that was developed in 1992 by Japanese Buddhist Mikao Usui. Since its beginning in Japan, this practice has been adapted across varying cultural traditions. It uses a technique called palm healing or hands-on healing as a form of alternative medicine. Through the use of this technique practitioners transfer “universal energy” through the palms which allows for self-healing and a state of equilibrium.

Reiki clears, balances, and activates the energy centers in the body, also known as Chakras, aligning soul, mind, and body. Here are some of the great benefits of Reiki healing:

  • Promotes natural self-healing
  • Removes energy blockages
  • Treats symptoms as well as causes of disease
  • Strengthens the immune system
  • Clears toxins
  • Enhances personal awareness and promotes spiritual growth
  • Creates deep relaxation
  • Aides in better sleep
  • Helps relieve pain
  • Balances organs and glands and their bodily functions

If you have not tried Reiki yet, I encourage you to do so. It is a very relaxing and beautiful experience. After a session, you feel lighter, calmer, very relaxed, clear-minded.

Now let me tell you about EFT Meridian Tapping or Emotional Freedom Technique. While related to acupuncture, EFT does not use needles. We use our fingertips to tap on acupressure points and we mentally “tune in” to specific issues while stimulating certain meridian points on the body by tapping on them. Properly done EFT appears to balance disturbances in the meridian system and often reduces the conventional therapy procedure from months or years down to minutes or hours.

The bodys energy system – The foundation of EFT tapping

About 5000 years ago, the Chinese discovered a complex system of energy circuits that run throughout the body. These energy circuits or meridians as they are called, are the centerpiece of Eastern health practices and form the basis for modern-day acupuncture, acupressure, and a wide variety of other healing techniques. This energy courses through the body and is invisible to the eye.
 

EFT gives you striking evidence that unique energy flows within your meridians because it provides the effects that let you know it is there.


By simply tapping near the endpoints of your energy meridians you can experience some profound changes in your emotional and physical health. That is what EFT is all about. Western medical science tends to focus on the chemical nature of the body and has not paid much attention to these subtle but very powerful energy flows until recent years.  

EFT is the emotional version of acupuncture and a mixture of Chinese Acupressure, Neuroscience, and Positive Psychology. EFT is a revolutionary process for healing emotions, and it is at least 80% effective with just one session. You can make enormous strides by introducing EFT into your therapy instead of spending months or years on “talk therapy.”

I have used EFT myself for many things including a phobia of snakes. In just one session my phobia was gone! Because EFT works so well, I became a practitioner and I love it!
