The Wellness Universe (WU): What do you do?

Janette Stuart (JS): I guide others in upleveling their self-care routines with mindful and spiritual practices so that they can Live Life Better and experience more joy and fulfillment in their lives.

WU: Why did you choose to devote your career to this?

JS: My brother was failing rapidly several years ago. I grew up in the church and knew about Angels but didn’t think they could help “regular people” like me. I didn’t think I was “worthy” of angelic assistance. I thought the Angels only assisted saints or important people in the world. I was so depleted at this point; comfort was hard to come by, and I was struggling mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

I found a mentor who was able to point me in the direction of so much comfort and reassurance during those dark days before and after my brother’s passing. I began leaning into angelic goodness and grace and receiving divine love to boost my self-worth.

Their soothing words were a balm to my soul, and I knew I would one day assist others in receiving this innate goodness available to us all. This sense of worthiness and embracing self-care and self-love have shaped my work and enhanced my sense of inner peace.

WU: How does your work help individuals?

JS: Embracing self-care and self-love benefits every relationship we have with ourselves, at home, work, and in the community.

WU: How can your work improve wellness in the workplace?

JS: By better caring for ourselves, we boost our self-worth and satisfaction levels, leading to more inner peace and wisdom in all kinds of situations, including the workplace.

WU: What can individuals do to help improve their wellness?

JS: One of the most important things for an individual to do to improve their state of being is to be honest about where they really are, i.e., what they are feeling; admit and take responsibility that they don’t know everything; and not place blame or shame on themselves for not knowing what they don’t know and thinking they should.

WU: How can employers improve wellness in the workplace?

JS: Create a safe, healthy, and supportive workplace that prioritizes employee well-being and honors the value that each employee brings to the table. They should encourage a culture that values health, provide comprehensive benefits such as mental health services and wellness programs, and support work-life balance through flexible arrangements and policies. By offering opportunities for personal and professional growth, creating a positive and inclusive work environment, and setting a good example, employers can establish a wellness culture where employees feel valued, supported, and empowered to thrive.

WU: How can healthcare providers better support their clients/patients

JS: Healthcare providers can significantly improve their support for clients by incorporating trauma awareness into their practice. This involves acknowledging the impact of past traumas on individuals’ health and well-being and establishing safe, empathetic environments where patients feel heard and understood. Through attentive listening and the validation of emotions, healthcare providers can cultivate trust and rapport, crucial for effective care. Furthermore, it necessitates being mindful of triggers and integrating trauma-sensitive practices into treatment plans.

Moreover, embracing a holistic approach to wellness enables healthcare providers to comprehensively address the diverse needs of their clients. Instead of solely concentrating on symptom management through medication, providers can explore lifestyle interventions encompassing nutrition, exercise, stress management, and social connections. By highlighting these aspects, individuals are empowered to take control of their health and nurture lasting well-being.

WU: How can individuals, employers, and the healthcare system navigate proactive vs reactive care?

JS: By prioritizing preventive measures of wellness such as nutrition, flexibility, strength, inner peace, and better relationships through self-care before a health crisis arises instead of when chronic disease or conditions manifest.

WU: Tell us about a gaffe you made in the course of your practice, how it affected your client or business, and what you learned from it.

JS: Early on in my practice, I was naive to think that everyone was open to doing transformational work and clients would flock to me. Wow, was I wrong! You mean I have to market myself?! I had no clue what I was getting into. All I wanted to do was help people. I was also shocked at the level of resistance people had to actually asking for help.

WU: What is the best client outcome you provided?

JS: The ability of a client to come away with an improved sense of self-worth, more joy, and fulfillment in their lives through the many benefits of self-care and self-love practices.

WU: Please share a quote you live by.

JS: I would like my life to be a statement of love and compassion, and where it isn’t, that’s where my work lies.” – Ram Dass
