In our ever-changing world, it seems as though the pace of life is moving increasingly faster, working itself into a whirlwind. The need for self-care, mental health, and prevention is quickly becoming a necessity for survival. We all want to live healthier, more peaceful lives, but where do we go for help? And if you don’t have the extra cash, what can you do to help yourself?
Upleveling Wellness, a Wellness Universe exclusive series, is here to guide you. Glean from our experts’ wisdom and walk the path to a healthier, happier you.
Today, we introduce you to Linda Dieffenbach.
The Wellness Universe (WU): What do you do?
Linda Dieffenbach (LD): I assist individuals in overcoming the damaging impacts of trauma and toxic conditioning, enabling them to release unhealthy patterns and limiting beliefs that have created chronic challenges in their lives.
Through our journey together, I support them on their path towards self-actualization, empowering them to reclaim their inner strength and fully embody their passion and purpose.
WU: Why did you choose to devote your career to this?
LD: I have always been drawn to helping others. During my personal journey to heal childhood trauma, I was fortunate to discover powerful energy healing practices and tools for personal transformation. While traditional methods had failed me, these tools led me on a profound inner healing journey that enabled me to overcome the wounds I carried. I was able to connect with myself and build a stronger, healthier relationship with myself. Through this healing journey, I released the pain I carried and let go of unhealthy survival strategies that I had adopted to cope with my past. I reclaimed my power and found a deep love for my life.
Recognizing the effectiveness of these methods and practices, I eagerly sought ways to use them to help others. Learning from several amazing mentors, I am honored to continue their legacy through the coaching, healing, and teaching that I offer.
WU: How does your work help individuals?
LD: My work helps individuals discover the underlying causes of chronic challenges they are experiencing. Once identified, we implement strategies to address the root cause and employ integrative practices and tools to create more effective and sustainable habits and skills going forward. Through this process, the individuals I work with are empowered in their lives and personal growth journeys. They gain the skills to develop healthier relationships on all levels (intimate, family, work, self, etc.). They learn healthier and more effective coping strategies to help them navigate challenges and changes in their lives, enabling them to release old, ineffective, and unhealthy coping mechanisms. They overcome self-sabotage and other limiting patterns, gaining more confidence and experiencing more joy in their lives.
As a result of our work together, individuals experience a profound shift in their mindset and overall well-being. They become more resilient, adaptable, and equipped to handle whatever life throws their way. By addressing the root causes of their challenges and implementing sustainable strategies for growth and healing, they are able to make lasting changes that positively impact their lives in a holistic manner.
Through our collaborative efforts, individuals are supported in cultivating a deeper sense of self-awareness, self-compassion, and self-empowerment. They learn to embrace their authentic selves and live in alignment with their values and goals.
This transformational journey is not only about overcoming obstacles but also about discovering one’s true potential and living a fulfilling and purposeful life.
WU: How can your work improve wellness in the workplace?
LD: Through my workplace wellness services, I focus on nurturing collective well-being by fostering personal growth and overall health within the organization. Through resources like mindfulness training, healthy communication, team building, and resilience-building workshops, I empower teams to address underlying issues such as stress and burnout, promoting a culture of wellness and helping participants cultivate healthier relationships within the workplace, enhancing productivity and job satisfaction.
WU: What can individuals do to help improve their wellness?
LD: Key steps that individuals can take to improve their wellness includes doing their inner work, cultivating self-awareness, and fostering self-compassion.
Doing our inner work creates the foundation for the others and is a necessity for well-being. Without it, we move through the world under the shadow and pain of our old (and often unconscious) wounding. We struggle to truly thrive.
Investing in our healing and personal growth is perhaps one of the most important investments we can make because it sets us free from the patterns and pain of the past and allows us to live with far more joy. Self-awareness gives us the power to take back the reigns of our lives and stop being controlled by our trauma and conditioning. Self-awareness gives us choice. Self-compassion creates safety in our bodies and opens the door for deep healing to occur.
All of these are essential if we long to truly transform our lives and live in alignment with our highest purpose.
WU: How can employers improve wellness in the workplace?
LD: Create a safe, healthy, and supportive workplace that prioritizes employee well-being and honors the value that each employee brings to the table.
They should encourage a culture that values health, provide comprehensive benefits such as mental health services and wellness programs, and support work-life balance through flexible arrangements and policies. Offering opportunities for personal and professional growth, creating a positive and inclusive work environment, and setting a good example, employers can establish a wellness culture where employees feel valued, supported, and empowered to thrive.
WU: How can healthcare providers better support their clients/patients?
LD: Healthcare providers can significantly improve their support for clients by incorporating trauma awareness into their practice. This involves acknowledging the impact of past traumas on individuals’ health and well-being and establishing safe, empathetic environments where patients feel heard and understood. Through attentive listening and validation of emotions, healthcare providers can cultivate trust and rapport, crucial for effective care.
Furthermore, it necessitates being mindful of triggers and integrating trauma-sensitive practices into treatment plans. Moreover, embracing a holistic approach to wellness enables healthcare providers to comprehensively address the diverse needs of their clients. Instead of solely concentrating on symptom management through medication, providers can explore lifestyle interventions encompassing nutrition, exercise, stress management, and social connections.
By highlighting these aspects, individuals are empowered to take control of their health and nurture lasting well-being. Giving precedence to lifestyle interventions over medication when appropriate further empowers clients to actively engage in their health journey. By educating them about the advantages of lifestyle changes and offering support to implement these modifications, healthcare providers assist individuals in forming habits that support long-term health.
This strategy not only reduces reliance on medication but also fosters a sense of autonomy and self-efficacy among clients, resulting in improved outcomes and overall well-being.
WU: How can individuals, employers, and the healthcare system navigate proactive vs reactive care?
LD: Individuals can be proactive by doing their inner work, engaging in a healthy lifestyle, being aware of their body’s needs, and proactively responding to any changes in health.
Additionally, ensuring regular checkups and preventative screenings allows for early identification and intervention as problems arise. Employers can support proactive healthcare through comprehensive benefits that include mental health care, wellness programs, and access to preventive services. They can create a healthy work environment that encourages work-life balance and prioritizes employee health.
The healthcare system can support proactive healthcare by focusing on wellness, lifestyle, and preventative care and making these available and affordable to everyone.
WU: Tell us about a gaffe you made in the course of your practice, how it affected your client or business, and what you learned from it.
LD: Although I’ve made a lot of mistakes along the way, I fortunately have not made any embarrassing blunders that have impacted my clients or my business.
WU: What is the best client outcome you provided?
LD: I’ve been fortunate to have had the opportunity to support many people along their journeys and witness them grow into their strength and brilliance, so it is difficult to pick a single best outcome. One thing that I love, however, is seeing women that I work with go from constantly apologizing for everything, even for existing, to fully owning their power and claiming their right to be in the world. That is one of my favorite outcomes.
WU: Please share a quote you live by.
LD: “I would like my life to be a statement of love and compassion–and where it isn’t, that’s where my work lies.” – Ram Dass
