As a hypnotherapist, I not only understand the importance of visualization, but I also use it on myself daily, especially in times when my emotional pain needs soothing.

This is a chance to busy my mind so that I don’t dwell on thoughts that keep fueling all the hurt, pain, angst I may experience.

Don’t Know if You Can Visualize?

If you have ever read a book, you have visualized. If you have been told a story by a friend and while they are talking, you can almost see the people, maybe the reactions on their faces, or perhaps even the outcome of the situation as it is being told to you, you can visualize. The key is not to try too hard but to allow yourself to relax and ease into it. I love guided visualization or meditation, which I use when I am too sad to come up with the visualization myself. Sometimes I’m just too weary to use my imagination.

Some may wonder if visualization can still be effective if you don’t want to use your imagination. This question has many answers. I will tell you that as your conscious mind, the part that is doing the imagining, is busy while the subconscious is getting the benefit of the information. That is the purpose behind visualization. This works best if you are listening to someone else based on pre-agreed upon suggestions that you want to achieve. It won’t be effective if you are trying to guide your own mind into the visualization because you won’t have the desire or energy to actually put the work in and use your imagination. Furthermore, you’ll be missing having your goals suggested to you. But you can always record what you want and listen to yourself.

So, if you plan to create your own visualization, it’s important to know what you want to achieve and that is what you will imagine.

I recommend you do this at a time when you can really focus on what you want. I am no stranger to emotional pain, I don’t think any of us are. It’s something I personally deal with on a frequent basis due to all the circumstantial challenges that occur in my life. I have found that in tandem with binaural beats to raise my vibrations, visualization helps drag me out of my pit of despair. I recognize that my emotions create thoughts that send me into a whirlwind of turmoil and I cry myself to sleep. But I am learning to be proactive at finding ways to soothe that pain. Listen, no one has a perfect life, and sometimes we just feel so beat down.

For me, I have triggers and when they are set off my emotions go spiraling out of control. The method I have written about and am sharing below, along with finding music that supports raising vibrations, has been amazingly effective for centering me and by the time I’m done, I feel so much better. It doesn’t mean I am totally free but as soon as I start feeling bad again, I am able to quickly do a visualization to music and find myself whole again.

My recommendation is to find some music on YouTube that says, “binaural beats raising your vibrations” and to put headphones on. The visualization is short, so it is easy for you to remember.

Make sure you are in a quiet space where you won’t be interrupted.

Lay down or sit down in a comfortable place. Put your binaural beats music on and begin by closing your eyes and drawing in nice deep breaths. I find if you have some lavender essential oils that you can dab on your hands and inhale is great for helping start the relaxation process, especially if you have been crying or are feeling emotionally drained.

Visualization:

After drawing in a few deep breaths feel your body begin to calm. Focus as you slowly inhale, then exhale counting to three as you blow the air from your mouth. Close your eyes and feel your chest as it rises and then sinks. The key is to take your focus off your thoughts and feelings. Imagine cords coming from your feet and going down into the earth, all the way to the center, right to the heart of mother earth and hooking in. See a golden healing light being pulled up through your cords back into your feet, filling your body.

When the light gets to the center of your chest, allow it to rest there, soothing you, and filling you up with love.

Now, feel the light continue through to the top of your head where a new cord comes out of your crown. Feel that cord travel all the way up through the sky into space, see this cord moving through a pink mist, beyond the universe and into a beautiful sparkly river of energy. This is the river of God or Source. Some call it the “Heart of Creation.” Feel the cord pull your spiritual, etheric body up following it until you find yourself floating in this river. Allow it to envelop your body, feeling it soak into every muscle, nerve, fiber, cell, organ of your body. As you allow yourself to float, call upon guides, angels, God, Gods or Goddesses, asking for their loving support, their healing, loving energy to help you through this difficult moment.

Allow them to take the burden of your pain and fill you with a white light instead.

Continue to allow yourself to float freely and be filled with love from Creator, guides, or whomever you call upon for as long as you need. When you are ready, feel yourself move from the river back into your physical body, taking a moment before opening your eyes.

Do this visualization as often as you need. You can add questions about your situation and sit in stillness for answers, trust what you hear.
