Cultivate your Appetite for Inner Peace

From the minute I got that first taste, I knew I wanted more. Rich, vibrant colors pulsated behind my closed eyes; first purple, then teal, then purple again. Trying to stay calm and in the moment, I wasn’t sure how this could possibly happen. Stillness? Release? Then the instructor said, “Okay now, gently open your eyes and start to wiggle your fingers and toes.” She brought us safely back into the now, the hectic schedule that awaited me, and the seemingly ordinary view my eyes once again captured.

It wasn’t a simple meditation that whet my appetite that day. Nor was it a meditation practice. The opportunity came as a final pose to a stretch and balance class I regularly attended. It felt good to gently move, twist my spine, and take an hour for myself. The class is part of my lifestyle that gets me away from a computer, the phone, and obligations.

Inner peace felt new to me years ago, and I wasn’t even sure what it was or how to get more. My ravenous appetite for inner peace proceeded to grow. I was hooked, like a toddler experiencing chocolate for the first time. Peace felt so sweet. Embodied Peace. Could it get any better than that? Absolutely! But it took me a while to figure it out. Furthermore, I was clueless about what blocked me from inner peace and physical wellbeing that should come with it. It wasn’t until I stumbled upon this easy solution that my life changed.

We are physically programmed to feel good. It’s a normal and natural feeling we all experience. Without bliss, or the feelings of being blessed, we would have died and become extinct a long time ago. Structurally, conscious decisions and opiate receptors – ones that pick-up messages from feel good hormones called endorphins – exist in the prefrontal cortex, the part of the brain located at your forehead. Exercise, sex, nursing, and passion are all activities or emotions that produce endorphins . . . chemicals released in the brain and body to cause the feeling of bliss. Because we know that these endorphins originate in the thinking part of the brain, we can say that conscious thought can provide us with feeling good. “It’s like we’re designed to make choices around pleasure. The very highest, most intelligent part of our brain is drenched in receptors to make us use pleasure as a criterion for our decisions. So it’s okay to feel good – God is good.” [1]

Supreme wellbeing and good spirits – these are given to us in physical form through the structure of our brains, cells, and glands. Yet it may be hard for us to achieve bliss as an emotional state-of-being on a daily basis. What separates us from bliss and inner peace? What keeps us at an emotional disadvantage for achieving happiness and joy? Is there something tangible that blocks our connection to positive emotions? Yes, indeed. In fact, incorporating these messages and practices will help you break through pain, suffering, and unease in favor of total health and inner peace. Here’s where you can make a difference to begin your journey toward inner peace and mental wellbeing.

How to Cultivate Your Appetite for Inner Peace

1. Gurus will tell you that anyone can achieve inner peace. Here’s why that’s not true.

We live in a toxic world and carry a body burden of toxicity hiding in every cell of our bodies. The brain is especially vulnerable and weakly succumbs to heavy metals like mercury and aluminum, creating plaque and brain fog. What you end up with is forgetfulness, disorientation, or feeling stuck or anxious. It affects your mood, sleep, energy level, and even your capacity to think. As these heavy metals, toxins, and contaminants accumulate in the body, imbalances become more pronounced. Did you know that in the presence of mercury, the protective layer around nerve cells called the myelin sheath dismantles and disintegrates? You might not feel it happening in the moment but imagine what happens to electrical wires without a protective insulating layer around them. Short circuiting wires provide the perfect example of what it might look like in your brain. It’s hard to be at peace if you’re in pain, have jumpy legs, swollen joints, and disturbances in your gut.

2. People will tell you that in order to achieve inner peace you have to meditate. Again – not true, and here’s why.

Inner peace is a culmination of lifestyle choices that foster your beliefs for wholeness, wellness, and connection to pure energy. My meditative experience revealed a propensity for peace, and I happened to catch a glimpse of it. It was like a dream, but not a dream. It felt more like a state of being. Some people call it an awakening. I like to think of it as remembering that this is a natural condition for life, mental clarity, profound intellectual and intuitive abilities, and peaceful feelings. Ultimately, once cultivated, this appetite for inner peace becomes normal, happens more often, and you can call upon it easily. Yet calling upon it and achieving mental clarity can happen more easily with active detoxification as a foundation for healing. Once you become free of heavy metals – often to even a small degree – inner peace manifests! It’s such a joy to notice how easy it is to feel good.

3. Experts will tell you that you need a prescription for your mental health. The truth is that’s not necessary to cultivate your inner peace.

Cultivating your inner peace relies on remembering that your body, mind, and spirit are all one in wholeness, supported by pure energy. Energy IS. As a biologist, educator, and licensed Spiritual Healer I’ve seen every malady and situation alleviated by correctly detoxifying heavy metals. Could the autistic child speak, learn, and interact as a family member and classmate? Yes! Could the forgetful elder begin to remember and function once again? Yes again. Could a brain deprived of oxygen at birth begin to heal? Yes, amazing, isn’t it? Could nervous sleeplessness be released in favor of inner peace? You bet.

Detoxification isn’t usually mentioned by conventional doctors. Most people don’t know where to begin or have an understanding of how toxic they might be. You don’t need a heavy metal toxicity test to become whole, clear, and achieve inner peace. We can begin cultivating your inner peace with your Personal Toxicity Test through my website.
