Welcome to Jim Phillips’ Wednesday Wisdom for January 16th! Each Wednesday, WU World Changer Jim Phillips will share some mid-week wisdom for you to ponder and embrace!
“By being bold, compassionate and respectful we are our most powerful.” – Jim Phillips
It seems more and more people are naming a word as their theme for the year. When asked, the word that immediately came to mind was “bold.”
Being bold means confident and courageous, speaking out and stepping up when necessary and most beneficial. Some, however, interpret bold as being aggressive or taking advantage of others.
Because of this possible (mis)understanding, I added compassion and respect to the action of being bold. Respect, by the way, was last year’s word. Given all that was said and done over the course of the year, respect and being respectful was most appropriate, but unfortunately not regularly on display.
With the added context of compassion and respect, bold is speaking up and stepping up when it is called for while being respectful of the views and actions of others. It is not about condoning their words or actions, but respecting them for their right to do so. It is about expressing compassion. We don’t know what others are experiencing or have experienced, any more than they know our story. To express compassion puts us in our power.
I suggest that being bold is also allowing the truth of who you are to be expressed and experienced in this world, the unlimited being that awaits your permission to do so.
Being bold is granting permission.
Nowhere is being bold more important or critical than being bold with ourselves. Challenge what you believe and say about your Self. Challenge where you short change your Self. Be bold and challenge what you believe is possible. Be bold and push the boundaries of your perceived limitations. Take the joyous leap into uncertainty with the knowing that you are in truth stepping into your magnificence.
Be bold by expressing compassion and respect towards your Self. Honor you for who you are and are in the process of becoming. Be bold in questioning why you believe what you believe and bold in seeking the truth.
Be bold and live from that truth as it is revealed to you. Be bold by unabashedly being you. Being bold we gain confidence and trust in our Self.
The more confidence and trust we gain in our Self the bolder we become. The bolder we become the more we exercise and experience our true power.
“By being bold, compassionate and respectful, we are our most powerful.”
