Welcome to Jim Phillips’ Wednesday Wisdom for February 27th! Each Wednesday, WU World Changer Jim Phillips will share some mid-week wisdom for you to ponder and embrace!
“Your life’s purpose is not what you think it is. However, what you think it is, is integral to your purpose being fulfilled.” – Jim Phillips
Every one of us wants to be known for some meaningful achievement during our lifetime.
We want to know that somehow, some way, we made a difference. We struggle to find that elusive life purpose that others apparently find. They do what they love, all the while enjoying success and being acknowledged for what they do.
Is this you? Do you want to make a difference in the world, or at least in the lives of those around you?
Are you struggling to find your purpose?
Do you feel there is something you are here to do but can’t quite put your finger on it? If so, Welcome to Club Humanity! This is all of us. We all want to make a difference. We all want to feel relevant.
We are all relevant, otherwise, we wouldn’t be here. The plain and simple truth is that if there wasn’t a reason for being here, we wouldn’t be. Take a minute and allow that to really sink in.
How does that feel?
Do you feel relief because you know now that you have a real purpose for being here, or are you now anxiety ridden because you are stressing over not knowing that purpose?
Do you actually believe you would be placed on this planet with a sense of knowing there was something you’re to do without being given clues as to what that is? That would be a rather cruel cosmic joke, don’t you think?
Here Are Your Clues:
- Clue Number 1:
What do you absolutely love to do? In what activity (activities) do you experience the greatest joy and freedom? Towards what activity are you the most passionate?
- Clue Number 2:
What activity (activities) do you regret not giving enough effort and time towards?
- Clue Number 3:
What do you tell yourself you will do upon retirement but for now you can’t do because of a lack of time or other resources?
- Clue Number 4:
What do you have a strong desire to do but don’t out of fear of what others might say or do, or out of a lack of trust in yourself?
I have a confession. The questions are somewhat trick questions. Yes, they can lead to your passion and what you consider your life’s calling or purpose. Truth be known, what you are most passionate about or feel called to do is not your life’s purpose, however, it is integral to your life’s purpose being fulfilled.
Every one of us has the same life’s purpose.
What is unique for each of us is how that purpose is fulfilled. The life purpose we share is the realization of our respective and collective truth. The truth is realized through the thoughts we have, the beliefs we hold, the choices we make, the actions we take, and our resulting experiences. Every experience holds within it the opportunity to better understand and therefore realize our truth.
What we feel called to do is not our life purpose.
It is a vehicle through which our life purpose can be fulfilled. Pay attention to what you are most passionate about, engage in those activities that cause you to lose all sense of time and self, and allow that which you are to experience and express it Self through you and as you. As you do, your truth is being realized.
“We are each a unique expression of the Divine. As we live in full expression of that Truth, the Divine is in full expression.” – Jim Phillips
