1 Simple Tip To Move Past Your Negative Thinking

Shari Alyse

Here’s the thing, friends – you’re going to have some bad days. You’re going to have some days where you want to crawl under a rock and hide for the day. It’s life. What you should try to understand, however, is that having not so great days is okay. Having feelings of anger, frustration, sadness, etc. is PERFECTLY normal. What is not okay, is staying in that place of negativity, stewing in it, and then spreading that disease to everyone, trying to get people to join you on the complaining bandwagon about how your lives and the world suck. You must allow yourself to process what you are feeling, feel it, and then figure out why it is there so you ultimately can move forward from it.

So, I’m sure you’re probably thinking this “sounds” great, but how does one do that, Shari? Well, let me tell ya! By acknowledging what you’re feeling and then (here comes the kicker) being willing to not feel that way. Being willing and open to changing those feelings. That might seem obvious or overly simplistic, but what so many people do, is that they get stuck in their emotions because they get stuck in their “story”. If someone happens to hurt you, betray you, or anger you, it just adds fuel to your fire for you to talk about every other time in your life this might’ve happened. The thing about life is, things are always going to happen. There will always be people or situations that just don’t turn out as you had hoped. And like I said earlier, it’s okay to feel upset by this, but when you choose to stay in that space of negativity in your mind, then you can expect to stay in that space of negativity in your life.

I want you to think about this for a moment in your heart and then really take these statements in and practice saying them aloud when you feel yourself getting stuck in those negative thought patterns.

I am unhappy, but I am willing to not be.

I am angry, but I am willing to not be.

I am willing to see my life differently and this situation differently.

Knowing that you don’t have to feel that way, is so unbelievably freeing! Knowing that you don’t have to feel that way is so liberating and so much easier to handle life! When you are willing to see your life differently, then you invite your life to show up differently.

I challenge you, the next time you find yourself caught up in a moment and you see that it’s just going to take you down that slippery slope, remember that you can choose to respond to your life from the place of fear or you can choose to respond to your life from the place of love. The choice is always yours.

I’m curious, have there been times in your life where you have actually been the cause of more negativity in your life because you’ve chosen to focus on the problem rather than a solution? I’d also love to hear some strategies you use to help lift yourself back up when you’ve been knocked down. Leave your comments down below. I look forward to talking to you!
