“Believe in yourself! Have faith in your abilities! Without a humble, but reasonable confidence in your own powers, you cannot be successful or happy.” – Norman Vincent Peale
Being self-confident is a personal lifeline affirming your unique place in all of your life.
The right to have and own your place with ease defines being self-confident. True self-confidence rests within us and is reflected outwardly in a comfortable easy presence giving those in your path a felt sense of ease and connection.
Wouldn’t it be great if life dished out comfortable portions of confidence and ease to everyone?
Most all of us deal with or have dealt with a lack of self-confidence for a season, or around a specific personal area, and at times, seemingly feels like a pervasive reach in all of life.
Gaining and growing self-confidence is an attribute available to everyone regardless if confidence is present or not at first.
If you are feeling stuck by fear, overwhelm, perhaps indecisiveness, or just need a refresh, check out the tips listed below for insight and tools to get you moving forward with the best of your life.
Here Are 10 Tips to Boost Self-Confidence:
Replace Negative Self-Talk.
Replace statements like, “I should,” “I can’t,” “I need to,” “If only,” “Why me,” with life-affirming words like, “I will,” “I want to,” “I am going to,” “I can,” or “I am.” When you change your internal language, you become more confident by doing so.
Start by recognizing if you tend to operate with a negative deficit. And if so, counter this by noticing and appreciating what is good in your life and what you’re grateful for. This could be noticing and appreciating the weather outside, your tried and true friends, good health, solid employment, a supportive family, partner or friend, etc.
Take Baby Steps.
Set one small realistic goal you want to achieve. Go easy! Take this step by step. For instance, if your goal is to run a 5k and you are currently sedentary, create the habits and patterns needed to achieve your goal by breaking it down into small “baby steps.” When done consistently, it will become a comfortable behavior with the glow of self-confidence!
Life is a series of baby steps along the way, and if you add up these tiny little steps you take toward your goal – whatever it is – whether it’s giving up something, a terrible addiction or trying to work your way through an illness. When you total up those baby steps you’d be amazed over the course of 10 years, the strides you’ve taken. – Hoda Kotb
Know Yourself to the Core.
When we know ourselves from the inside out, we have a foundation from which to stand. If self-exploration is new to you, start by sitting in a quiet space, taking time to reflect on your inner-talk from a curious and kind space. Study these thoughts as a means of understanding who you are, or “your own life story as this is today.” What are your preferences, core beliefs, and personal values? Ask “why” after each response until you find the end of your responses.
Create A Personal Positive Affirmation or Mantra.
Create a mantra or statement distinctly for you that affirms what you want to become and be. Affirmations are positive statements that you create. Little by little, when read, said aloud, or thought upon consistently, your affirmation helps you overcome and replace negative self-talk for positive thoughts.
Join Your Local Toastmasters Club.

Master A New Skill.
When you learn to do something previously unknown, you gain and own more self-confidence in who you are and what you are capable of becoming. This skill can be something along the lines of creating a small daily routine for weekday mornings or learning a new language. Learning something new cultivates independence which then deepens the self-confidence for expanding the scope of all your life. One small win will create a positive ripple of so much more.
Find A Role Model.
Having a role model, whether a close friend, a colleague or a celebrity, is a great way to boost your self-confidence, by emulating the person whose positive attributes you find inspiring.
Just Do It.
An easy way to grow and increase confidence is simply by doing something you personally enjoy. When you take action on your behalf by tending to your needs, good things happen within, and confidence increases as a result.
Give Yourself Healthy Attention.
Believe in yourself. Remember, you too, are worth the same care and attention that you give to others. When you tend to and acknowledge yourself, you will naturally boost your feel-good meter, while influencing others to do the same for themselves.
