3 Ways to Upgrade Your Personal Native App

3 Ways to Upgrade Your Personal Native App by Maggie Sarfo #TheWellnessUniverse #WUVIP #PersonalNativeApp

This week, we explore Personal development; a topic that most of us think about either consciously or subconsciously. No, it’s not native apps. I’m sure some of us are already on Google to understand what they are. That’s fine because I did too!

Personal Development

I’m talking about Personal development, Personal growth, Peak performance and all the other variations that come into describe our quest to become better versions of ourselves. It also includes achieving success in whatever we deem as important areas of our lives. To get a more inclusive definition, Wiki says:

Personal development covers activities that improve awareness and identity, develop talents and potential, build human capital and facilitate employability, enhance the quality of life and contribute to the realization of dreams and aspirations.

This innate quest helps us to progress in life and push beyond perceived boundaries and our comfort zones. It brings out the genius in us for business or life success (if that’s an aspiration of course). I recently got asked to upgrade my YouTube app on my phone for a greater experience.

Being me, I ignored it for a few days and then decided it was time to upgrade after all. On clicking ‘upgrade’, I got a message that my device did not have enough data space to enable this upgrade. I then went through a process of finding enough storage space in order to put into effect this desired upgrade.

This provided me with inspiration for this article. Secondly, I have also recently been doing some research on native apps in preparation for a client consultation that involved their go-to-market strategy for an app (in development).

Anyway, I digress so let’s define a native app, shall we?

Native App

TechTarget says:

A native application (native app) is an application program that has been developed for use on a particular platform or device. Because native apps are written for a specific platform, they can interact with and take advantage of operating system features and other software that is typically installed on that platform.

In simple terms, you may recognise a native app, when you get asked to choose between an IOS (Apple) or Android (Samsung, etc.) version of the app before you can download it to your mobile device.

The unique qualities of a native app make it more adaptable to the device platform. It also takes advantage of existing and future technology upgrades to enable your mobile device to operate at its peak.

Your Personal Native App

This makes it very comparable to humans when we decide to embark on a personal development or growth journey. It’s all about upgrading our existing personal template or system, which has a huge capacity to adapt to the changes, as this is native to us. We can then develop it in the direction we chose for optimum performance.

Here are 3 keys to consider when it comes to upgrading your personal native app to perform at its peak:
  1. Set clear intentions of where you are and where you need to get to.

An app upgrade tells you about the additional features that make your experience better.

  1. Be prepared to do the work that comes with the upgrade template.

Certain parts of you must die for the newer you to emerge and flourish in its new role. To become more, we must learn more and act ‘as if’ we’re already there (with integrity). Developers create a separate version of the app for a reason. The newer version learns from and builds on the older version but they don’t co-exist once the new version is downloaded onto the device. Neither should we; once we develop a better version of ourselves, attain the new role, get married, move into our dream house etc.

  1. Journal your progress.

It helps spur you on to bigger and greater things (if that’s an ambition). Looking back on your older template and how far you’ve come should not only fill you with gratitude but also reinforce the greater potential in you. Ask any good developer for previous versions of an app. They’ll not only show you version 8 and 9. They’ll more likely also offer you v8.1, v8.2.1, v9.1.3 etc.

That is a great way to show progress and recognise or inspire even greater potential in others. Successful people both in business and in life will show you how journaling has helped them.

As the poet Marianne Williamson beautifully sums it up:

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.

As we go on our various personal development programmes to enable us to perform at our peak, let’s remember to emulate the expansive, unique and adaptable nature of the native app, and apply this to our templates.

Thank you for reading. Did you find it valuable? If so, I ask that you please ‘share’ so that others can benefit from it too!
