It’s time we had a heart-to-heart.
As healers, we know the value better than anyone of self-care. Yet why are we so often the ones putting the oxygen mask on others before putting it on ourselves?
Maybe there’s no flight attendant to give you a reminder after you’ve taken your seat. In other words, maybe no one is watching, so you sweep it under the rug thinking no one will notice. Or, let’s face, it. As sole entrepreneurs who wear so many different hats in running our businesses, there’s that age-old excuse of not enough time.
How many of you would argue that you’d have more time and more opportunities for self-care if only you had more money?
If only you could get your struggling business off the ground and have a steady flow of clients willing to pay you for your healing or coaching services?
Stop for a minute. Let me ask this question: Why should people pay you for the services you offer?
Oh, right, because of course they are committed to their personal growth and healing and recognize the value of working with you to help get them to their goals. But, wait. If you’re not putting your self-care first, why should your clients? For the sake of impact, let me re-phrase that in a way that hits you where it hurts… in your wallet:
IF YOU AREN’T SPENDING MONEY ON YOUR OWN SELF-CARE, WHAT GIVES YOU THE RIGHT TO ASK YOUR CLIENTS TO SPEND THEIR MONEY ON THE CARE THEY’LL RECEIVE FROM YOU?
It’s time to take a harsh look in the mirror. This is the law of attraction at play, and it’s called a “law” because it’s a proven cause-and-effect cycle. What you put out is what you manifest. I bring this subject up now because we’re at the start of a new year when resolutions are the norm.
If you know your own self-care has been lacking (and I’ll be the first to raise my hand in that camp!), then make a commitment to upping your game.
Will it take planning?
Yes.
Will it require money?
Probably some.
Will you be more successful if you are held accountable?
Absolutely.
Finally, will you have more fun if you do it in the company of others?
Heck, yes.
Which brings me to another reason why I bring this subject up now. The Wellness Universe’s first annual SoulTreat retreat is in April, and just around the corner!
At SoulTreat you’ll have a chance to deeply connect and bond with a community and sample their healing magic through the workshops they’re offering. There will be discussions, networking and the opportunity to explore synergies and possible collaborations, as well as share knowledge, expertise, and resources.
Can you, therefore, come to SoulTreat and expect to grow your business? Yes. But that’s NOT why Anna and Shari, the Founders of WU, and I decided to organize this event. It’s because we are healers, too.
WE KNOW HOW MUCH OF YOURSELF YOU GIVE AND HOW IMPORTANT IT IS TO REFUEL.
So, go ahead. Put your own oxygen mask on first.
Say yes to making self-care a priority in 2019 and beyond. Do this out of love for yourself. Then watch, in turn, how it positively impacts every area of your life. Yes, including your business.
Remember, when you make self-care a priority, only then do you have the right to ask your clients to as well.
See you at SoulTreat!
