For many years, I did not understand this. I guess because I didn’t want it to be true. Then one day it hit me that if I really loved myself then I would allow my pain. It’s like enough of the barriers were down for me to be able to see that the things that hurt were things that mattered to me and further more my own pain mattered.
I am of the belief that we are here for the full expression of who we are; happy, sad, angry, fearful, peaceful….all of it. The problem is we have all be taught, actually for centuries to repress those emotions we label as “negative” and we have many self -help Authors and spiritual teachers that also label them negatively and that doesn’t help. The truth is they are just feelings(all neutral) and they are part of who we are. I can’t see that we would be placed here on earth with this range of expression to repress it. At some very fundamental level, that doesn’t make sense.
Love yourself enough to claim that some things about this life experience, your life experiences, are painful. On the other side of the pain is great peace and wisdom. Are you able to do this?
