Susan Lataille, Certified Master Grief Specialist discusses how grief support in the workplace.

The Wellness Universe (TWU): How do you define yourself?

Susan Lataille (SL): I’m a wife, mother, sister, daughter, friend, student, entrepreneur, author, and editor. I carry the essence of my journey, from my beginnings in event production to my profound transformation into a Certified Master Grief Coach in 2021. My  mission is to help others live life fully, even in the face of grief, by providing support, guidance, and the tools necessary to navigate their healing process.

TWU: What do you do?

SL: I assist others to process through the complexity of emotions associated with the loss of a loved one, guiding individuals through their grief journey with great care and expertise. By providing a structured program that encourages writing and sharing, I help them explore and articulate their experiences. My guidance ensures that they can delve deeply into their personal stories, finding healing and growth along the way. My program is designed to maximize the benefits for those who participate, offering them a path to navigate their grief with grace and support.

TWU: What led you to do this work?

SL: My personal loss is the cornerstone of my mission. The passing of my son, Nathan, due to Glioblastoma, opened my eyes to the profound need for understanding and support in the realm of grief. After years of personal reflection and growth, I embraced my calling and became a Certified Master Grief Coach. My dedication to this mission is about shining a light on grief, illuminating the path for others who are navigating the darkness of loss, and helping them find their way through with empathy and expertise.

TWU: What will you be teaching our audience and why should they care?

SL: This session is truly invaluable, focusing on fostering a supportive environment within the workplace. By educating on effective communication and productivity strategies, it creates a space where grievers feel seen and understood, and their colleagues are empowered to provide comfort and the necessary space. My approach is breaking down the barriers surrounding the taboo subject of grief, enabling a more compassionate and cohesive work culture. This is essential for healing hearts and enhancing workplace dynamics.
