Spiritual Practices – The Chair of Joy

Full disclosure. I’ve never been one of those people who can sit for an hour in silent meditation … or even for 15 minutes, for that matter.

Once I got past my self-flagellation (You’re supposed to be an interfaith minister! A spiritual life coach! What’s the matter with you?!), I set out to create a meaningful spiritual practice for myself and went searching for meditations, mantras, rituals, and chants that inspired me.

What I’ve come up with is a spiritual toolbox of many different practices. None of them are longer than 12 minutes and all have some active component to them, either physical movement or singing or directed visualization. Some I’ve been doing for years, others I rotate in and out as I’m introduced to new ones that resonate with me.

So, in this year-long series running to the end of 2024, I’d love to introduce you to some of my favorites each month. I’ll give a little explanation here, then you can watch a short video (less than 10 minutes) to get the full background and experience. And of course, I want to hear about your special practices, too!

Introducing the Chair of Joy™

I was recently introduced to the Chair of Joy by a dear coach friend (and co-author on our  “Authentic Woman Seasonal Playbooks”) and it’s blown me away. It’s the brainchild of its magical founder, Sheryl Lynn.

I’ve been sharing it every day with family and friends, with coaching clients, and even in my business networking groups. Turns out there are a lot of people out there who are yearning to feel joy more palpably and ongoingly, not just in special, fleeting moments. And the Chair of Joy experience offers an easy, tangible place to build their “joy muscle.”

You can watch the video below to get the whole experience… and if you watch it on YouTube, you’ll get even more information in the description there.

Enjoy!

I hope you’ll join me next month when we explore the world of “Positive Intelligence” and how we can use its powerful techniques to silence those inner “Saboteurs” who keep us from being our best selves.
