Upleveling Wellness Featuring Theresa Micheletti

In our everchanging world, it seems as though the pace of life is moving increasingly faster, working itself into a whirlwind. The need for self-care, mental health, and prevention is quickly becoming a necessity for survival. We all want to live healthier, more peaceful lives but where do we go for help? And if you don’t have the extra cash, what can you do to help yourself?

Upleveling Wellness, a Wellness Universe exclusive series, is here to guide you. Glean from our experts’ wisdom and walk the path to a healthier, happier you.

Today we introduce you to Theresa Micheletti.

The Wellness Universe (WU): What do you do?

Theresa Micheletti (TM): I’m a Spiritual Life Coach

WU: Why did you choose to devote your career to this?

TM: So I can help people create the life they love.

WU: How does your work help individuals?

TM: People’s lives get easier and they feel more confident by letting go of what is unneeded and feel more Joy.

WU: How can your work improve wellness in the workplace?

TM: People get a sense of calm, a sense of knowing they are on the right path, a feeling of being comfortable in their own skin.

WU: What can individuals do to help improve their wellness?

TM: Go with the flow of life. Be proud of their journey. Laugh at the imperfections of life. Know sometimes we seem to be on a bad camping trip and we are OK. Know we are not perfect. Love yourself and be kind to yourself. Face the negative emotions and then let them go. Live in the present.

WU: How can employers improve wellness in the workplace?

TM: Create a peaceful zone where an employee can go to regroup. Encourage people to use their vacation days. Provide resources for wellness opportunities– meditation classes, retreats, vacation opportunities, local getaways, new recreation opportunities (new hiking trails, new parks, new ski club, etc.), Company community focus for the year like help with the Thanksgiving canned goods collection, encourage participation with a group like Big Brothers, help rebuild a playground, whatever….

WU: How can healthcare providers better support their clients/patients?

TM: Come with the attitude that the patient can be healed if they wish to be healed. Miracles happen everyday. Make the patient feel included in the healing team. Think of entering the space with an expectation of holding a positive space for the patient to be healed. Enter the patient’s space thinking of bringing a positive, upbeat lightness with you to share with the patient.

WU: How can individuals, employers, and the healthcare system navigate proactive vs reactive care?

TM: Expectation! Keep the feeling of knowing healing is possible. Take care of yourself FIRST or you’ll have no energy to help others. Focus on the best possible environment you can mentally visualize for your patients which means you need to take care of your space, your mental outlook.

WU: Tell us about a gaffe you made in the course of your practice, how it affected your client or business, and what you learned from it.

TM: I scheduled a client two months ahead of traveling across the USA to do a few days of hypnosis regression sessions. I had finished all clients but this one and when he was 20 minutes late, I went down to the lobby to check with my assistant and no client, so I left a message at the reception desk explaining there would not be enough time in his hour to complete his session in case he showed up and went across town to meet earlier with a friend. He showed up a few minutes later and left an email explaining he had been delayed. The next time my partner and I were working in South Carolina, we also scheduled a few sessions in North Carolina to accommodate him. He did not show up at all and left zero messages. He later asked for a refund and sent letters to the Director of Hypnosis and my corporate boss. Our intake forms , which he signed, state clearly, if you are late there is no refund unless we can replace your appointment slot (as we need to have enough money to pay for airfare and hotel). He did not believe we had lost money doing the side trip to help him. I was glad I kept all client communication emails and now archive them and I make sure to keep signed intake forms, so I can prove the communication we have had regarding appointments and appointment conversations.

WU: What is the best client outcome you provided?

TM: I had a client in her 80s who had pain since suffering frostbite in her 20s. During our session the pain was permanently released after decades. Next time I was working in her city, she sent me six relatives as client.

WU: Please share a quote you live by.

TM: Always choose the path that will bring you JOY.
