What Is Wellness? Here\’s What You Need To Know

What is Wellness? Is it physical fitness? Is it eating healthy? Is it a spiritual practice? Is it life balance? Let’s explore!

Wellness is a very general term. Depending on your beliefs or practices, you may think it has to do with health, nutrition, and fitness. Some people automatically conjure up visions of meditation and yoga. For others, they think of western medicine and going to the doctor to get well and what they need to do to keep from getting sick.

The Wellness Universe believes total wellness is a holistic approach and that you “treat the root cause, not the disease.” But we want to do more so we are educating and offering resources that help you take proactive control of your life. It’s common to seek relief once we have started or have been suffering from an ailment. How empowering is it to know you can take your health back by being proactive?

How can you be proactive about your wellness?

Understanding why we do what we do, how our choices affect us, and how our actions play a part in being our optimal self requires awareness and education. Since total well-being is the sum of balancing several wellness areas being, educating yourself in the areas of emotional, environmental, intellectual, occupational, intellectual, physical, social, and spiritual wellness will allow you to make better life choices that contribute to well-being.

What are the limits of wellness?

What an interesting question! There is always a new frontier to explore. Maybe you are at your physical peak, but you want to be more in touch with your higher self, so exploring Spiritual Wellness is something to try. Perhaps you find that you have a great group of friends and everyone thinks you’re amazing, but you feel sad at times, Emotional Wellness is an area you may want to explore.

Total well-being is not easy to achieve, we are all human and on our personal journeys. We slip up, trip, and fall. However, what makes a difference to your success are resources, support, and information.

Maybe what you thought all of your life as a “stomach ache” is actually an allergy? What if you were conditioned to believe you had limited choices but based on your upbringing is really conditioned thinking? What if you found the resources that could change your entire life because they helped you to see a new light?

Wellness is how we feel, think, act, engage, and explore. Wellness is a way of BE-ing.

The Wellness Universe believes if each person is happy, healthy, and whole, they will contribute those attributes to the world and ultimately create world peace.
