5 Mental Health Tools for Better Mental Health – Emma Coller

Mental Health Awareness 5 Tools for Better Mental Health Mental Health Awareness Month was first observed in 1949 by the Mental Health America organization and has since grown into a national movement. Observed in May to raise awareness about the importance of mental health and to educate people about mental health issues, The Wellness Universe is supporting wellbeing with a panel of experts and self-care tools. The goal is to promote mental health and well-being, reduce stigma, and encourage people to seek help when needed.

Navigating Stress

Stress is an inevitable part of the human experience, and while some stress can be motivating, too much can lead to poor mental health. To navigate stress better, we can use the 4 A’s framework:

  1. Acceptance – Embrace stress as a reality of our human experience.
  2. Acknowledge – Take a mindful approach and check in regularly with your body to name and understand how stress affects us.
  3. Action – Take positive actions to support yourself in times of stress, such as taking a hot bath,  speaking to a friend, or taking a walk in nature.
  4. After Action Review – Reflect on what went well, where you struggled, and what you learned to build resilience.

Remember that stress can be both positive and negative, and it is up to us to choose how we navigate it.  Because as the incredible Victor E. Frankl said, “The last of the human freedoms is to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way”.

With Well-being wishes,

Emma Coller
