The phrase, “get grounded” is used often, but what does it actually mean?

How do you know if you are grounded or not? When considering your energy, the act of being grounded means your root chakra is balanced and healthy. This is often accompanied by a feeling of strong, earth connectivity. You’ll feel stable, and confident. You know you’re protected and safe. Your entire body is at ease.

A few ways to know if you’re not feeling grounded are if you:

  • Can’t finish projects or focus.
  • Feel like your nerves are fried or are spacey.
  • Questioning things more than usual.
  • A difficulty with communication.
  • An impulse to hoard things and money.
  • Strong urge to be physical or go outside.

If you’re not feeling grounded, there are several things you can do to find that confidence and positive energy, and some of them are quick, easy tricks!

Here Are 5 Simple Ways to Get Grounded:

  1. Aromatherapy.

Aromatherapy has been used for thousands of years around the world. The action of deep breathing to clear your mind accompanied by the calming smells of natural oils triggers a response from your emotions, steadies your heart rate, lowers blood pressure, and increases memory.

  1. Get Organized.

When we’re feeling overwhelmed or overworked, we have a tendency to move faster instead of slower. The more helpful response is to slow down and get organized. Take stock of what is truly important in your life and clean out the rest. This may mean saying no to activities, plans, or additional work.

  1. Mental Visualization.

Take a step back and picture where you’re going in life, in your year, or even in your day. Visualize where you want to be, how you want to be feeling, and the people around you.   1. Physical Grounding.

This is an increasingly common practice that goes hand in hand with the power of visualization, setting intentions, and focusing on your breath, all with the goal of grounding yourself to your roots.
