Welcome to Jim Phillips’ Wednesday Wisdom for February 6th! Each Wednesday, WU World Changer Jim Phillips will share some mid-week wisdom for you to ponder and embrace!
“Living fearlessly is knowing that no matter what happens, it happens for you not to you.”
That’s not true! How can the car accident I was in possibly be for me? I certainly didn’t ask for the accident. That wreck happened to me no matter how you look at it.
This is the typical response when we are in the midst of a life experience, especially those that are painful or create a challenge. But isn’t it interesting that when an experience is favorable, we don’t say, “how could life do this to me,” we tend to look at it as the reward for hard work, who we are or how we have lived our lives?
This is not an issue of right or wrong, good or bad. It is an issue of life perspective, your view of life, based on your thoughts and beliefs regarding life. Do you believe life is your benefactor or antagonist? Whichever your perspective, life will do all it can to bring it into your lived experience, for that is what life is compelled to do.
Living fearlessly is knowing that every event in life provides an experience of life-based on your perspective.
And each experience of life offers the opportunity to gain a greater awareness and experience of your Self within the context of the event. Each event in and of itself is neutral. It is your response to the event that creates your experience of the event and therefore the experience of your Self.
Living fearlessly does not mean throwing caution to the wind and taking unnecessary risks that can put one in harm’s way.
It means subordinating the fear of what might happen to our full engagement in what is happening in the moment without judgment. Life always provides what is required to fulfill life’s purpose.
How do we live fearlessly? We can look to the word fear itself for the answer.
- Fear-less.
Do not allow fear to be your motivating emotion. Most of what is feared is the fear of the unknown. We have become too comfortable in the certainty of what we know even though a greater experience of life and our Self exists outside of our comfort. Be bold and courageous in the face of your perceived fear and step across the threshold into the unknown with the joyous anticipation that what will result is what you desire.
- Engage.
Fully engage in life. Take action in spite of the fear you have. Nothing disperses fear like action taking toward that which you desire.
- Awareness.
Fear is conquered by your awareness of it as a self-imposed prison of limiting beliefs. Be aware of the opportunities that are and always have been available to you but to which you have been blind due to your perceived fear.
- Release.
Let go of any attachment to thoughts or beliefs that in any way limit your experience of life and your Self. Release any attachment to outcomes by trusting that life always has your back while providing all that is required for the grandest experience and expression of your Self during this and subsequent lifetimes.
While the appearance, at times, is that life is against us, it is in seeing each event as an opportunity to more deeply experience and express our Self that we gain the benefit each event offers and come to the realization that all that happens in life is in truth for us.
See you back here this time next week!
