Welcome to Jim Phillips’ Wednesday Wisdom for April 24th! Each Wednesday, WU World Changer Jim Phillips will share some mid-week wisdom for you to ponder and embrace!
“Forgiveness; freeing oneself from low-frequency energy in the form of thoughts, beliefs, and emotions that are associated with what we believe another has done to us.”
Forgiveness is the most liberating acts in which we can engage.
It is also the one I have the most difficulty writing about. It isn’t because I don’t know how to forgive or that I have not forgiven. I have long since been able to detach the person from the event and accept that they are not what they do or have done. It stems more from my difficulty in forgiving myself, in letting go of any doubts, fears or judgments regarding my Self.
What is this act of forgiveness? It is one of the greatest expressions of Self-love we can have. When we forgive, we tear down the walls of a Self-imposed prison built upon a foundation of anger, resentment, judgment, hatred, and fear.
Forgiveness is one of the greatest expressions of compassion we can extend to our Self and others.
Through forgiveness, we realize our humanness and the respective path each Soul has chosen. It does not suggest we become friends with or even like, those whom we feel have harmed us. Who are we to know what pain caused them to act in the way they did any more than they can know ours?
Another perspective regarding forgiveness is the possibility that the experience(s) involving you and another was agreed upon by each Soul prior to this incarnation. In fact, it could have been agreed upon by many Souls who were to participate in the experience, it doesn’t really matter. What matters is that what took place was intentional. It was done for the benefit of one or all involved in the experience.
Your forgiveness might just be your recognition of these other brave Souls for playing out the role to which they agreed so that you could enjoy the experience and expression of your Self within the context of the event. It could also be that you agreed to be the “victim” allowing the others to experience their Self in the role to which they agreed.
Forgiveness holds within it, non-judgment, love, and gratitude for all that life has to offer.
Forgiveness allows us to fully experience and express our true nature. It allows us to be detached from thoughts and beliefs that hold us hostage. Forgiveness offers the opportunity to liberate and be liberated.
Forgiveness does not condone or absolve someone of something they did. What was done was done, forgiveness will not change that. It doesn’t alter the fact that the offender must live with what they did and cope with the consequences of their acts. True forgiveness is taking responsibility and forgiving one’s Self for the actions taken. Only in Self-forgiveness is one truly liberated.
A paradox of forgiveness is that although we are seeking to be released from the emotions we hold; we are to fully experience them. We are to express anger, resentment and perhaps contempt for the other person. However, in doing so we are to release the energy behind these emotions so they don’t become blocks that would prevent life from continuing to flow through us. The key is that we don’t become attached to these thoughts, feelings, and emotions and let them define our experience of Self from that moment on.
It is easy to believe forgiveness is about the other person when in Truth forgiveness is always about us.
It is our thoughts and beliefs that keep anger, hatred, frustration, resentment, and contempt alive in our hearts, not the other person. As we forgive and release our Self from these feelings and emotions we live more in the moment, more fully engaged and available to what life is offering.
When forgiveness is expressed, the one for whom forgiveness is given takes responsibility for their act, while the one who is forgiving takes responsibility for their own peace and happiness.
“In Truth, there is nothing to forgive.”
See you back here this time next week for my Wednesday Wisdom for April 30th!
