Revisiting the Past – Part 5: Listen to Your Inner Guidance

woman holding her heart

Since we’ve been hearing so much about removing what no longer serves us these days, The Wellness Universe reached out to several individuals who specialize in helping us determine if or when we should reintroduce people back into our lives. Glean from them as they share their expertise with us in this five-part series.

Before deciding whether or not it would be in your best interest to take someone back into your life, there are three important factors for you to consider.

  • Are you ready to stand in your power and clearly communicate and honor your boundaries with this person? In other words, are you ready to let him or her know how you expect to be treated and that the consequence of them not honoring your boundaries will be ending the relationship again?
  • Are you ready to express yourself authentically and confidently in ALL situations and not allow any fears like being judged, criticized, abandoned, etc. stop you? You have a right to BE YOU!

If you feel you can’t be yourself with this person, do you really want to be in a relationship with them?

  • Have you done enough inner work to be able to identify and heal your core wounds so you can take responsibility for and respond rather than react to triggers when a wound has been activated? All relationships experience conflict and conflict can either drive you apart or can be used as an opportunity to heal on a deeper level and create a deeper connection with one another.

Do you have tools and strategies for dealing with conflict in ways that demonstrate love and compassion for yourself and the other rather than resorting to laying blame, becoming manipulative or playing mind games?

Your relationships can either support you in expanding and evolving into more of your Magnificent Self or they can stifle your growth. A healthy relationship is one that is mutually enriching where both parties are committed to their own growth and to supporting one another along their journey to greater levels of self-awareness and self-realization.

If you listen to your inner guidance, you will know deep within your heart whether or not it’s time to reconnect with someone who has been absent from your life. You will also know if, after deciding to reconnect, something feels out of alignment. Pay attention to and follow the promptings of your inner guidance. It will never lead you astray.

Stress within relationships is a very sensitive subject. Please reach out to a trusted resource for your well-being.
