Even the paper clips you use, whether they are gold-colored, or a variety of colors, can add a personal touch to your work.
  2. You can have fresh flowers in your office, even if it’s three daisies in a little vase.
  3. Personal rituals make you a poet and they help you feel good about yourself and others. They reinforce the significance of the simple acts we perform repeatedly. When you make your everyday rituals, simple things like bathing, sleeping, and eating, meaningful and attractive, they nourish other areas of your life.
  4. When you’re feeling out of sorts and blue, pick up a favorite art book and rejuvenate yourself through the beauty of the pictures.
  5. Spray cologne in a box of stationary and put the top back on. The wonderful scent will be there for you as soon as you open the lid and write a note. The recipient of your letter will enjoy it as well.
  6. Lift your mood with a new fragrance.
  7. Take a few minutes to be alone several minutes each day. Concentrate on your breathing. Meditate. You will emerge refreshed.
  8. Daydreaming can help the brain promote essential cross-circuiting of your creativity. Give your brain a nap; it works smarter.
  9. Have a special basket for the mail. It looks pretty and it’s fun to bring into the living room or library to open at leisure.
  10. Use an attractive letter opener. It helps make mail-opening a pleasant ritual. (²)
