The Benefits of A Personal Mantra

The Benefits of A Personal Mantra by The Wellness Universe #TheWellnessUniverse #WUVIP #PersonalMantra

What Is Your Mantra for the Rest of 2019?

Merriam-Webster describes a mantra as:

A sound, word, or phrase that is repeated by someone who is praying or meditating.

A word or phrase that is repeated often or that expresses someone\’s basic beliefs.

For the purpose of this article, it is the second description that we\’ll be focusing on.

In one of our previous Wellness Universe articles “Why the Brain Replays Our Fear Thoughts,” we highlighted the importance of repetition on changing our beliefs and mindset. A personal mantra is a perfect tool for the same reason.

It is the act of repeated focus on a state, or outcome you desire, that will allow you to create positive changes in your life. This is why it\’s important for your personal mantra to be something that truly resonates with you and is easy for you to remember.

How To Create A Mantra That Works For You:

Your personal mantra works best when you know what it is you want to achieve through its repetition. You can create a general mantra that covers all bases, such as:

“I am learning, growing and healing every day, in every way!”

Or it could be a specific mantra that\’s based on a specific area of your life our outcome you desire, such as:

“I am prosperous, prospering and financially free!”

The key to creating a personal mantra that you can commit to repeating is to use keywords that actually generate an energetic response in your body. Your body lets you know when you\’re feeling in alignment with your intention.

For example, if you have doubts that you could ever be financially free, it might be too much of a leap to use the example above. Not that this has to stop you from using it, or something like it. But you do need to be aware that you will feel an initial resistance to that mantra when you start using.

If you can accept that when you\’re changing from one belief to its opposite, that you\’re going to feel an inner resistance, it can still work. In fact, it also allows you to track that resistance and feel it diminish over time.

Creating A Non-Resistant Mantra:

If you feel that you would struggle with a mantra that actively creates resistance in you, then try a mantra like the one below.

“I allow myself to release my limiting beliefs around (fill in the blank) in ways that feel wonderful to me!”

In this way, you can still feel the benefits of a positive focus without having to trigger all of your disbelieving thoughts at once! As you continue to use your mantra, over time, the limiting belief around what\’s possible for you will start to fall away. Then, if you choose, you can tweak that general mantra to something more specific.

Feeling the Vibration – Amplifying the Vibration:

Your personal mantra has a vibration all its own. All words have power. That\’s why it\’s important to choose words that really resonate with you. Resonance and vibration are key. Your mantra\’s purpose is to connect you with a vibration that\’s in alignment with what you wish to create.

To amplify the vibration, it\’s important that you use your mantra daily. You can also write it out and place it around your home, or on your computer. That way, even after you\’ve spoken it aloud, you\’ll be repeatedly reminded of your positive focus.

You can create a daily practice where you combine speaking your mantra with visualizing the outcome you desire. Perhaps using it first thing in the morning or last thing at night. When we\’re just drifting off to sleep our subconscious mind is ripe for programming new beliefs. Or when we awake before we get out of bed, we\’re still in connection with that sleep state and can use our mantras then.

You can also incorporate your personal mantra into your current daily practice, if you have one.

The point is that you are training yourself to focus on what you wish to create, rather than its opposite.

To Recap:

  • Know what it is that you wish to achieve. Be clear on your goals.
  • Create a mantra that\’s specific to your goal if that feels good.
  • Create a mantra that\’s general and covers all bases if that feels good.
  • Words are powerful and have a unique vibration choose them wisely.
  • Repeat your mantra daily for best results.
  • Write out your mantra so you can see it throughout the day.
  • Create a daily practice or incorporate your mantra into your current practice.
