Making Better Personal Choices for Business Success

Anna and I hope you’re enjoying our series on better business development. We’re always interested in up-leveling our game and sometimes had to do that by the live-and-learn strategy. We offer you some thoughts, insights, and tips from a place of genuinely hoping you don’t have to make the mistakes we’ve made.

If you haven’t read Part 1 in the series, A Better Virtual Coffee: Start a New Relationship That Will Build Your Business, Not Ruin Your Reputation, please do that! Next up, we’re going to chat about how your personal choices do, definitely affect your business, and how to make sure you’re aligned in all ways, so you experience the most authentic success possible.

What we see most often when it comes to this issue, is that business owners who talk about wanting to run professional, thriving businesses don’t totally have it together at home, or in other areas of their lives, and don’t make this a priority.

What affects one area of your life affects the rest. We’re not saying everything in your life must be perfect to move forward and grow your business. What we’re saying is that what’s creating problems in your personal life will eventually catch up with you in your business life. Decisions you’re making in your relationships at home, for your own self-care, your finances, or your living situation reflect on your business and the partnerships you create, as well as the success you experience.

The bottom line here is to prioritize yourself, the people you hang out with (and live with), your health, your spiritual life, your budget, and anything else that needs to be up leveled. When you make great personal choices, you’re automatically going to reap the benefits in your business.

The most personal example of this for me (Laura) was when I knew it was time to ask for a divorce. I decided that if the person I counted on the most at home did not support my ideas, dreams, and passion, I would never make those dreams a reality. Your support team really matters. If you make the choice to stay in relationships where you’re not getting the support and love you need, it will reflect on your business and every other area of your life too.

In my (Anna’s) experience, I’ve ventured into partnerships with individuals I’ve learned lessons from; seeing their personal choices and how their business success, or lack thereof, lined up. I take that lesson and share this simple piece of advice “Your personal choices ultimately lead to the level of business success you can achieve.” That really sums it up. Those you choose to partner with and reflect your brand must be vetted not only in their credentials, experience, and knowledge, but their personal choices as well, and in my opinion, this is most important.

Stay tuned for Part 3 of this series on better business development: Being a Community Player, where we’ll talk about what it takes to be a supportive, powerful, and sought-after part of a team or community!
