Here is her expanded thought …

Oftentimes in our struggle to accomplish something, we reach a point where we think we’ve used up all our energy and did not progress at all. It is difficult not to lose hope and easier to quit and say, “I did my best anyway .”  We tend to give up just before we see the light and get disconnected with the purpose of our struggle.

For a woman who is going through the labor of pregnancy, this struggle is very real. I can attest because I did it three times without the aid of pain medication. It was my purpose to go through childbirth the natural way and stay awake to welcome my baby into my arms. That did not come very easy.

There was a point where I wanted to give up. Imagine every fiber of your being stretched to its thinnest state. It seems like your body has a mind of its own and you have difficulty catching your breath. You have to swim with the wave or you would be swallowed by the ocean.

Either way, you have to survive. Another life is dependent on you to come out victorious. That realization made me claim the power beyond my own strength. I knew my struggle had a purpose and I wouldn’t be given the task to accomplish it if I were not equipped with the ability to make it through.

The shadow of doubt is huge when we have our back towards the light. Face the light and all the shadows fall behind. By our own strength, we are limited. But a promise had been given – we can do ALL things through Him who strengthens us. May we hold on to that promise, and never lose sight of our Source of strength.
