The seasons change gradually, and with each change there is something new to savor; snow sports in winter, and pussy willows in spring. It all teaches us that slowly enjoying the new aspects of our new situation is the best way to have a positive beginning.

Change is, by definition: A Life Constant. Yet so many of us find it difficult.

Whether it\’s for a positive opportunity like leaving for University, or a challenge such as an unexpected divorce, we are being forced to move beyond the familiar, the psycho-social mental construct we know as \’home\’. If we are unable/unwilling to \’leave home\’ and find our new selves, we face obstacles and likely emotional turmoil.

Flexibility, few expectations, an open heart, a sense of self-love – these are what are needed to find ourselves well situated following change. Even health problems can develop.

Nature\’s gentle pacing teaches us to allow ourselves the same ease in facing the changes of our lives. Every year, the seasons change, we know this to be true, and also a metaphor for our lives. We do not challenge the arrival of a new season, the Earth has taught us well. Accept that which is inevitable. Then, begin each change by looking for the new, happy pleasures. Even in the difficulties, there is always something promising and exciting to discover. Embrace that which excites you and before long, it won\’t be a new situation at all.
